In the old flight shop, there was an option for setting View Centre, but itīs
no longer in the AF99. How can I change it, and if itīs using FDE, how do I do
it? Thanks
Hello, Leandro,
I believe the old View Centre was also the Center of Rotation (which is also
the Center of Gravity). It can be changed in the AF99 Assembly Area under
Options/Set Center of Rotation.
Hope this helps. -- Dennis S, FSEngEd@aol.com

Leandro, its almost the first thing in the FDE fields under the Fuselage
Section. There are three fields for Cockpit View based on the distance from
the center of gravity ( which is also the center of rotation ). Just
experiment with the three fields until you get the view you want.

Hello, Keith and Leandro,
Agg! Of course I confused cockpit view with the others discussed in my
posting. You've jogged my memory: In the old FSFS, cockpit view was settable by
click-and-drag and lateral definition. In AF99, it's done in FDE. Sorry for the
confusion.
The matter of Center of Rotation/FS CG is on my mind because I'm just
finishing a Goupy, whose real CG is quite far forward, yet I'd like the plane
to appear centered in the monitor. -- Dennis S, FSEngEd@aol.com

Dennis,
one of the few problems with AF99 design is that the C of G is also the
center of view for any external views. This is a problem with some of my four
engine designs in that you have to manipulate things a bit with view options to
get a good subject for a screen shot. All that aside, we still want to present
the aircraft as realistically as the sim will allow and of course this leads to
offset views when particularly looked at in chase plane view. I have yet to
try FSDS although I'll likely start doing that once I complete a move to a new
residence. I'll be asking everyone else here for advice then!

Hi Keith,
I will anxiously await FS2k designs! Should be good stuff!
