I've been trying to apply a painted texture that displays a porthole style
windscreen. I've tried applying the texture from the side, but viewed from the

top or front it looks distorted. Same thing for applying from the top--the
side view looks distorted. So far the best view seems when the paint is
applied from the front. I've also fiddled around with cutting out the windows
using a technique similar to the 3-d gear bay tutorial. By the way, I'm using
a raster paint program. Would a vector paint program eliminate these problems?

Didn't AF99 allow you to place insignia on a part--is this feature available
in FSDS--that what I'm using. I'm looking for any suggestion on solving this
problem.

Hi Dave,
For me, a vector-base porgram gives me much more control. However, I don't
think it will solve this problem. You can however, texture a group of polygons
on a part.

For example: texture the sides of the aircraft as desired. Next, go into
polygon mode and and use your arrow keys to get to one of the polygons that
will need to have the port hole window texture. Use the Shift + S key to select
the polyogon.

Next, use the arrow keys to move to the next polygon Shift + S keys to select
any surounding polys that need to be textured.

You can now go into part mode and apply a texture to just the selected polys.

A few things to remember:

Apply your main textures first and make sure they're right. If not, you will
need to start all over after applying the texture to the polys.
Getting the alignment correct on the textured polys can be tough. Be patient.
