After a while, one learns to hit the "next" button real fast.
Hi folks,
I don't know if it's just me who sees this, but it seems this forum
has turned into a largely planes wanted/ planes wanted painted/ this plane
sucks, build me a better plane/ planes wanted animated message board. True,
there are legitimate messages asking for help in design and I think those are
great. I'll be switching over to FSDS shortly and I'll likely ask for advice
from serious FSDS practitioners. Perhaps a separate message board for requests
to designers from those who have no intention of doing the work themselves
might clean up the forum a bit. Maybe call it charity classifieds :^) VBG

Good Point Keith.
I guess the risk is if only "I wannits" where posted in a new forum, would the
real designers avoid that place and the "I Wannits" stop posting there?
Have ANY designers here answered the request of a I Wannit in this forum and
built the plane?
Although I have built many planes for my friends who have sent me specific
requests, I've not worked on ONE plane requested in this forum for two reasons:
1) It's usually a request for a plane that already exists (sometimes in copious
quantities and the requestor failed to perform research.)
or
2) The request was not in a polite format that encourages enthusiasm, but more
like a DEMAND from a spoiled brat.

Hi Paul and Keith,
It is amazing how little polite effort goes into so many of these demands. Just
a little appreciation for the hours of research and input and testing, (with
multiple revisions and edits), would go a long way to facilitate better
response by designers, and create more comraderie among all hobbiests as well.
Yes I have made 4-5 .air files (I am art challenged, no deprived) at the
request of several people who have posted here. One was a pilot, and he was
very appreciative and had some helpful comments on another aircraft he had
flown, and that I needed information on. The rest have largely disappeared when
the file is sent or was posted. No thank you, no critique or suggestions, no
offer for information or data, not even a "this isn't decent"???

There are several aircraft I've done that were requests but again not from this
forum. I find that the personal interaction with a genuinely interested simmer
is rewarding. I've done repaints of the Lancaster, Argus and Voodoo series for
people who asked and took the time to develop a good working relationship with.
There are two projects still pending from requests received from simmer that
while they might be OK to release, I'm not 100% satisfied with. One thing
though. Sugar works a lot better than vinegar.

Bob,
this has happened to me a few times. As well, due to other commitments,
projects and the like I'd had to disappoint a few people for whom I've
undertaken a project. A case in point is a T-38 I'm working on. I apologize
to the gentlemen in question (he knows who he is) and suffice it to say I will
get the project done.
