There are only a few (compared to AFX) FSDS source files that have been
released. OTher than the source files at flightsim.com and freeflightdesign,
there's slim pickings.
What you CAN do, and are welcome, is import an afx file and rebuild it in FSDS.
That way you can add control surfaces, etc., and repaint as needed.
Now, you may not have found the Boeing source file you wanted but there are at
least three (727-100, 727-200, 707) there, for starters...

The afx importer in FSDS is not "perfect". What you see as missing parts are
actually polygons facing the "wrong" way.
Things to watch for:
1. Polygons facing the wrong way:
...solution: In polygon mode, carefully select each polygon in turn ("n" and
"p" keys) and check to see if it's facing correctly - hit the "f" key to flip
the polygon. (Your 3-D window will verify the operation.
2. A part will not "smooth" when you choose "Polygon Smoothing" in the
Parts|Properties (<F2>) dialog box. This is indicative that the part *probably*
has duplicate points (typical of a part made as a structure).
...solution: Perform a Part:Snap to Scale operation. This will eliminate the
duplicate points. Note: it is best to set the scale factor in the Project
Properties (File|Project Properties) to the smallest possible (0.02) to
minimize any "distortion" of the points.
...If the part still doesn't "smooth" it may mean there are points that
appeared close, but not close enough. You'll have to "hunt" for these points,
bring them to touching/close and perform the snap-to-scale operation again.
However, since *most* afx source files were built in the "PMP" (Pre-Moving
Parts" era, they will not have control surfaces built into the wings/tail etc.
It is easier to rebuild these parts in FSDS, using the afx part as a reference.
I've found, for example, tailfins composed of single polygons. It's easier to
rebuild it in FSDS, using the overall shape of the original part as reference.
The end result will usually be a completely new model.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
What you are probley seeing is the glitch in the AFX inport modul in FSDS.
When FSDS imports an AFX file it can not deal with the AF99 structure format so
it beacks the structure into panels and groups them together. What you have to
do is to select on of the "parts" and then flip the panels over so you can see
them.
Hope this helps
