Hey Guys, it has been a while now since FS-X has been in our hands and, by and by, It;s a great sim!!!! But, as always, WE get restless and WE just got to try different things.
I have read about lots of people managing to get FS9 aircrafts to function in this new sim, and I have been trying the same with a few of my payware and freeware models from FS9, with mixed results.
One model that truly interests me (especially with the racing missions in FS-X) is the now defunct FlightFactorySimulation's Vans-RV7/RV7A. This is one Beautiful model and panel and Addits, in FS2004. I tried to contact the manufacturers, but like I mentioned earlier, they have "closed their doors", they are now 'defunct' 'kaput'...., so no help is forthcoming. I kave tried pointing the installer to FS-X's directory and voila, all went well and the model appeared in the list of selectable aircrafts. But, alas, NO GAUGES !!! Empty panels both 2D and VC. The date fpr the gauges are new enough but they do not even appear in the panels, just the bezels and empty space where they should be.
I would be eternally thankful if someone can assist me in solving this "dissapearin Gauges" issue so that I can get my 'aerobatics on'. Thanks in advance for your help.

Well fellow simmers, it looks as if I'm stuck !!! I have tried all that my limited knowledge of aircraft configurations in flight sims will allow, but without positive results. I have even tried in numerous ways to contact the former Flight-Factory Simulations but without luck. They made a beautiful sim with the Vans RV7/7A, a sim which you really had to treat like a real aircraft, for example:1) You had to check your oil level, as it would deplete overtime, 2) You had to pay close attention to your speed with respect to flaps deployment, as you could damage same and had to "pay" to have the damage repaired, and numerous other details that I have yet to see modelled in other payware aircrafts.
Also, the specs were closely modelled to the real thing. For example, this aircraft has to be carefully managed on approach for landing as, by its very nature, its a very agile and speedy aircraft and requires lots of fore planning for all stages of flight.
It would be a real loss not to have such a model transferable to FS-X, especially with the introduction of "air racing courses" in this sim and also in the upcoming expansion pack.
Since the developers of this 'realistic' sim closed their doors in May 2007, there seems to be little hope of an FS-X conversion unless some really knowledgeable simmer out there, waves his/her "magic wand" and revitalise this sweet aircraft. Thanks for your time spent reading my lamentations anyways guys, and continued happy simming!!!;-)

I also have this program. It works well in 2004 and XP. I have installed in Vista and it works almost 100% with the exception that when I change views I have to hit the Esc key twice to revive the view. I have not been succesful in installing in it FSX. In order for the gages to work you need to have your registration code in the .cfg file located in the Users/applic folder.
Let me know if you have done anymore work in FSX and may be the two ouf us can figure it out how to make it work.

I have been able to install gauges i.e. air speed, heading, attitude, altitude, vsi. by modifying the cfg file in the panel folder. This folder is located in:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes\FFS Vans RV7A\Panel

You can start by replacing the statements after the equal signs on gauges. Just make a copy of the original cfg file.:
[Window06]
file=RV7Engine.bmp
file_1024=RV7Engine.bmp
size_mm=435
window_size_ratio=1.000
position=0
visible=0
ident=70
window_size= 0.310, 0.620
window_pos= 0.670, 0.380

gauge00=FFS.RV7!ToggleEngine, 0,0,434,645
gauge01=Cessna172!Tachometer, 23,25,170,170
gauge02=FFS.RV7!ManifoldPressure, 241,26,170,170
gauge03=Cessna182s!Oil_Press_Temp, 25,246,170,170
gauge04=Cessna172!EGT_Fuel_Flow, 241,247,170,170
gauge05=Cessna172!Fuel, 23,472,170,170
gauge06=Cessna!Vacuum_Ampermeter, 241,472,170,170

When you start FSX and choose the RV7 press shift+6 and the six gauges will appear.
