Vista introduces far stricter access control on resources (including files) than previous Microsoft operating systems.
Most likely the user you're running as doesn't have rights to those files because they were created under another account and not enabled for global write access.

calph,

you cannot write to files that do not have your user control.
bear with me its quite long winded.
1. right click on the file you want to write to.
2. you will then be presented with a box, click on properties.on the top it will say security.click on this box.click on users, click on users in the bottom box click full then apply.you will the have full control over that file.If you want full control over all files do the same but first select the drive not the files.do the same as above and you should then have full control over all files and folders on that drive.hope this helps.
