This is a snip-let from a post here on the forums.

While the OP was not complaining (just the opposite in fact), this is one example of why We are seeing such a variation of opinions on the performance of FSX.

Check out the programs running while trying to use the Sim.

Good one Randy. I got a good laugh seeing these 'three-ring-circus' ('just like in the Commercials'-ha!). I call it the 'WORD PROCESSOR' crowd mentality. IM, links galore, etc. Waste of 'bandwidth'.

FSX wants to be the 'one and only', and the 'cute' one, and it will bring you to your knees, and will abandon you if you don't heed the 'Or Else..' warning (ie: low FPS). She is a jealous lover. And no amount of 'Tweaking' will get her back. Choose or Lose! :-)

Hi Chuck,

Right, just trying to let other's know that a VERY CLEAN PC is required to get the most from FSX.

I have a fully dedicated Rig just for FSX. - Very Minimal software installed (just enough to keep me safe for Real World Weather), and I really am enjoying the new Sim. .

Well, sure helps me eliminate the confusion why I am able to run it on my laptop and others can't run it on a high end desktop. Its like, hey pull up 'msconfig' and disable all start up applications. It takes only 1 minute (if that long) and will give a huge increase in system performance. In the end, FSX will be much happier.
