Been Playing around with FSX for a bit over a month now. As of yesterday, everytime I try and use the REAL WORLD WEATHER funtion, I keep getting the "an error occured while trying to load real world weather...check your internet connection and configuration and try again" message. My internet connection is fine and my configuration is still the same as it always has been...no changes. Yet, I still keep getting the message. I have no problems with Web, IM, Email, etc...just with FSX real world weather. Any suggestions or ideas?

Regards,
NIGEL

PS...Browser is Internet Explorer

Greetings Nigel,

I experienced the same message yesterday, and like you, my internet connection was fine. Heck, I received it when I selected weather themes rather than real world weather.

Later last night the message disappeared, so, who knows what caused it. It happened with FS9 on occasion as well.

Ah, the mysteries of FS...............:)

I'm getting the same problem as well. It appears as though fs2k.zone.com, the server that FSX gets its weather from, is not reachable. I did a few traces to it from my own network and from about 4 others in the US and it appears as though communication ends at ten1-4.tuk-76c-1a.ntwk.msn.net. After that, everything else times out. For me, it's been down for about 24 hours now.

the seattle area was hit by a high wind storm causing over 1,000,000 homes and businesses to loose power thursday night (12/14/06). 100,000s are still without power on 12/16/06.

as microsoft is located in the seattle area, it is likely that the weather server got hit and hasn't yet been brought back on line.

Thanks all...I thought I was losing my mind (and computer) there for awhile...at least we can rest assured that it's not an FSX glitch!

Many Regards and THANKS,
