Old rig
gigabit socket 939 MOBO
AMD Barton 3000+ (1.9GHz OC)
AGP 8X X800XT platinum
2 GB corsair ram
old 250gb SATA drive (7200RPM)
New rig
gigabit socket 939 MOBO
AMD San Diego FX-55 (4600+) (2.81GHz OC)
AGP 8X X800XT platinum
2 GB corsair ram
new empty 250gb SATA drive (7200RPM)
WOW!!!
from 10-15 fps with all tweaks (25% autogen textures/25% clouds/25% ground textures) around toronto
to
25-35 fps with NO TWEAKS around toronto
now to tweak, and try to get the adobe AI traffic packs working without black planes outside of 2 miles
WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!
this sim is TOTALLY CPU dependant
it is also SINGLE CORE dependant
right now the chip is $200 with a free new 250 GB SATA drive on another website, just beware it doesn't come with cables, so until tomorrow my other HD is offline... addons for tomorrow after a trip to radioshack
if you have a 939/AGP motherboard, and wanna keep it until you up to a dx10 card/pcie board when you can afford it, this is THE investment to make... 200 bones and a good flightsim and the room to grow it to boot (my old fs9 ended up at 130GB with all the stupid satellite textures: socal, switzerland, UK, so on)
cheers!!!!
