I am trying to install FSX but when I get to "Please insert disk: FSX Disk 2" my system will not recognize the disk 2. When I go to the folder it shows as if Disk 1 is still in the drive. If I put disk 2 into my other DVD drive it shows the disk 2 content but the installation will not recognize this from a drive different from the one that the installation started from. This appears to be a system problem not an FSX issue. Has anyone else experienced this? I think I will probably have to reload my whole system.

Do you have any DVD/CDRW software running? I had the same prblem, I put in the disc two and it wouldnt move, it wouldnt let me click ok, or get past the dialgoue box.
I had my Intervideo software running in the system tray. I closed that, but I also copied both discs to a "fsx install" folder on my hard drive (i had a ton of space), and then ran the install from the hdd.
First try disabling any anti virus or burning software, dvd movie players etc...
Then try to install like normal again, if no joy, make a folder on your hard drive (need at least 15GB for the folder, 15GB for install = 30GB) free to do this, and then copy ALL files from BOTH discs to that folder...overwrite all files...

Thanks, I finally got it loaded. I updated my firmware, didn't work. Microsoft has a site http://www.flightsim.com/dc/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=32&topic_id=12145#12148 that has different trouble shooting suggestions. One of those is a clean boot which is nice because it boots with only the essentials. That still did not work, same problem. I copied the disk to the hard drive like you suggested. You have to copy disk 2 first and then disk 1 and overwrite all files. That worked. I still have no idea why my dvd drives are doing that. Thanks again.
