View Full Version : How to ? Adjust the height of the pilot seat ?
10-12-2006, 10:03 AM
Tried all of my addon aircrafts from FS 2004.
Fast none of them work on FS X...
Some of them do but you have to click twice on some authentification certificate and many gauges are not compatible any more.
Nevertheless, I cannot adjust the height of the seat as I did before using SHIFT + ENTER and SHIFT + BACKSPACE
If someone has got a clue, thanks in advance for your help

I asked the same last night and it was mentioned that CTRL+SHIFT+Q = Up and CRTL+Q = down.
Hope that helps.

The problem is that this setting does not stay when you change view.
Everytime you switch view and come back to the cockpit view, I have to use the ctrl + Q keys to reajust the seat view.
How to make it stay ?

Since you know how to "raise and lower" the view, I wonder if you are primarily trying to get a better default view or just wishing it would stay where you put it?
I can't make it stay (yet) but I will tell you that the "OLD" method of defining the 2D view in the panel.cfg still works. Here's a quick example in the Baron...
VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=2.5, 0.0, 0.0 // looking 2.5 degrees below horizon
VIEW_FORWARD_DIR=0.5, 0.0, 0.0 // looking 0.5 degree below horizon
[views] section added between the [window titles] and the [window00] section.
So, if you want a 'better' default setting, you can use the hard coding.
Hope this helps

Thanks very much for your reply and help.
I already knew that one but my problem is elsewhere. I'll try to make it clearer.
When I fly an approach or on cruise, I do not see the horizon for the nose is very high "up". So I use the new key ctrl + Q to lower it down. But when I play with the hat top to change views and come back to the forward view, it has moved back to it's original position. It does not stay and I need again to press the keys ctrl + Q.
In FS9 I would use shift enter and it would stay unless I pressed the tab key. I'm looking for the same procedure...
Thanks for further help...

In FSX so far I have found that Shift+Enter and Shift+Backspace, to move the seat up/down, only works in the Virtual Cockpit (F9); not in the 2D cockpit (F10).
Hope this may help,

Hi DAV 181
That's true, I've noticed that.
Maybe you can tell me how to assign those keys to the 2D cockpit ?

I have tried to play with these values in FSX (2D), but haven't succeeded yet to get it working the same way as in FS9.
Another thinx in FSX, they have moved the "Views" section to the bottom of the Panel.cfg file, so be carefull not to make a double statement in the top of the file!!
I found a really smart eyepoint-workaround in the 2D cockpit:
Press and hold the "Space" key - press left mouse button, move the mouse untill you have the eyepoint where you want it to be. Release the keys. This new View will now be your "Pan-reset" View.
