most of the (scarce ?) visitors around here probably know this, but still, I'd like to urge those who haven't found Paul Lange's (FS lead game designer) blog yet to take a look every now and than
http://blogs.technet.com/p-12c_pilot/default.aspx
he's by far the most active blogger on the ACES team, and even tho he obviously won't reveal anything we don't already know (penalty for squealing appears to be worse than death), the blogs make an interesting read
for years simmers have been complaining about FS developers not communicating with the FS simworld. Well, here's your chance to talk to the guys (and girls) moulding the future of FS ... and conversation doesn't always have to about FS either - other topics may be more reliable ;)

Just remember that they're extremely busy. They haven't posted here in weeks, and one of the posts on the blog says that he's not going to respond to e-mail unless it's from a Microsoft employee.

Well, they have continued posting elsewhere; but have stopped posting here...
...make of that whatever you will... ;)

yes, Paul did say they are overstressed at the moment.

well, for one, the moderators do seem to outnumber the regular visitors around here, or maybe now I'm just being mean ;)
in earnest tho, I feel the way to reach the forums in general is always "one click too many". I'm not saying Nels has to start overhauling this whole site, but sometimes I feel I could do with a GPS to find my way to this place :7

IMO, Nels biggest mistake has been to team up with C.M. - things been going down hill ever sense. - Oh well .........

Thanks Randy, why didn't I think of that :)
No idea who or what C.M. are (been away for a while), but I do get an eerie feeling of loneliness around here :(

In the past three days, I've seen no fewer than eight new posts from ACES members in other fora, yet nothing here for weeks now...

It's because we think up the best ideas and they already implemented them into FSX ;) ;) - now they move onto other forums :)
I'll be very surprised if they ever post here again. But, time will tell...
Doug
I don't think that's the reason :-) .

Why would you be surprised?
Here's a quote from the staff here (Cap Mason) in a recent post: "FSX was prematurely announced a year in advance, then Microsoft plays this silly game of dribbling out a few facts here, a liettle (sic) misdirection there. We are not falling for it. It will be, what it will be. And when we know actual facts, you'll know."
That's why I would be surprised. If you worked for ACES, took your personal time to come to a forum and post information, and then be told that you're playing a silly game of dribbling out a few facts and providing misdirection would you ever post there again?

Hmmm, interesting thought. Such a comment could be intended and/or taken in different ways, but I do see the point you're making.

Ya think? I'm not at all surprised that they've quit coming here. Unfortunately, it's the 'members' here who have to suffer the consequences of ill-chosen words, and not-so-thinly-veiled insults.
For that matter, have you noticed that a good number of paying advertisers have jumped ship? ;(
I never see the ads Bill. My firewall blocks them all so I don't even know who the advertisers are much less know who has left. But it is, though, an Equal-Treatment-Firewall - it blocks all the ads from The Other Site also :-) .

I don't pay enough attention to the ads, I wouldn't have ever noticed the difference, and still don't even after it's been pointed out. It's a shame that this has happened, an apology and a good firing are certainly in order.
I've only ever read the forums here, I guess I'll have to pop by the other place and put my name in there as well.

Twelve new replies from tdragger over there in the last 24 hours... ;)
I'm not sure how you manage to "block" ads that are embedded in the page's html code. Popups I can believe, but not the others...
:9
I have no clue how the ad blocker in this firewall (Agnitum Outpost) works. All I know is that I've seen very, very few ads in the last three years. The only site I regularly visit that will sneak in an ad or two is the New York Times. But the stuff here and at The Other Site is apparently kids stuff because the ads are virtually non-existant. For example, should there be an ad on this page? All I see is "Welcome to Flightsim.com" at the top. I guess I'll have to turn off the ad blocker and take a look.
Doug
Wow. I just turned the ad blocker off and browsed around the site a bit. Not a pretty picture. I had no idea all that stuff was out there. I've got to try it at The Other Site also just to see what I've not been missing :-) .
Now if I could just spel...

Yes, there is a rotating wide-screen banner advertisement at the top of the forum page. The Other Site features two small ads to either side, with a wide-screen banner in the middle. All rotating of course...
