View Full Version : Looking for More Precise Control over Auto-gen

I tend to like an auto gen setting somewhere between dense and very dense. Could we have a slider that is more precise than the one in FS9 (ie more density levels)? I also don't like how autogen is used in small towns (pop < 1000 etc)....most small communities don't really have as many houses and buildings as autogen displays. Even farm towns I've been through in real life with 10 or less houses are usually depicted in FS9 to have 50-100 houses with some larger buildings. Another thing I had in mind was whether or not autogen will contain region-specific textures? Yes, we have some already for FS9 but I was wondering :)

Thanks!

Hi,

The problem is that the landclass tiles are relatively large (around 1 km???), and thus the minimum "town" you can plant is that big. Thus, 50-100 buildings. You might be able to find addon scenery texture packages that have small towns embedded in normal scenery, but then they would appear as multiple "dots", one on each landclass tile.

Hope this helps,

Yeah I figured that might be a problem....I guess it matters to me cause I'm living in a smaller area....(from the big city but so used to seeing towns under 1000 these days LOL!) I could turn down the density of autogen as I fly nearer to small cities but then you'll find like 1 house and another half a mile away LOL! Oh well, if you check out the new fsx pics it seems that MS has definitely improved upon the autogen so maybe things will be good to go!!
