View Full Version : More Control of Autogen Possible?

Is there a way we could control how much auto gen we see around us, or depending on what altitude we fly at? I understand we have the current very dense, dense, normal etc options. I'm talking about an altitude control. Ex: Autogen disappears at 5000 AGL, or 7500 AGL, whatever the user inputs. It's difficult to see the auto gen a few thousand feet up anyway. Would this be a bad idea?

As it is the autogen starts to disappear as you get high. I remember a flight I did last week, I had tomake an emergency landing and thought, well at least there's nothing around for me to hit. But as I got lower, all sorts of small trees/bushes/shrubs etc could be seen.

Hmmm, yeah I notice they appear/disappear when you get laterally closer...I didn't know they did that for altitue though. It might be more like a cone. I was pretty high last night (high as in altitude :) ) and all the autogen was still present below me and that's the stuff I don't really care for because I'm too high up to really see the details.

I'm really not sure what could be done with this.....

It's a nice idea - I've been doing this manually for years now.

Take off with autogen, disable it completely somewhere around 10,000 feet, re-enable on approach.

Makes the ground textures render faster and better while at cruise.
