This is something that was discontinued after FS98 and I would love it back. The ability to create weather, not just over airports that have an ATIS, but anywhere, plus have the ability for one person to set the weather for everyone who is in a multiplayer session that they are hosting.
In the good old days of FS "FS98" I would host sessions and create a Hurricane with the weather areas function at whatever lat and Long I wanted. The only bad thing was that you could only create 2 local areas and one global. I would recommend a minimum of 4 local areas, although more would be better. I loved the fact that I could create a storm , set it's wind speed and direction, and wait at an airport in it's path until it got there. Then take off in the nick of time before it blew you off of the runway!
That kind of control was great especially when everyone in your session could experience it too. I know it's a pipe dream to think it will be that way again, but hey, I had to bring it up.

<<The ability to create weather, not just over airports that have an ATIS, but anywhere,>>

You know that's how Weather Themes work, right? They get applied locally on load, regardless of where you are. If you save your game, however, FS does push the data into the station grid.

Yeah what Mike said, plus, there are applications (popular one such as FSHost) for multiplayer than can set weather on the server and make that weather appear on everyone's monitor...and yep, this is all with FS2004 :)

I understand, but it's not exactly the same. If you still have a copy of fs98, load it up and set some weather areas by lat and long coodinates. Give them a direction and velocity and they will keep going forever. This is something that FS2004 cannot do on it's own. You cannot save a weather area to an exact set of coodinates, and if you set a weather area and it starts moving in a certain direction, the first ATIS station that it encounters will irradicate it. Belive me, I'm no novice at this. I always spend a few weeks playing with the weather systems in the new incarnations of FS. I did make a Hurricane adventure for FS2002, but it was limited by the ATIS boundries, so I had to be very creative. You can download it if you wish. At all major FS sites "fshcane.zip" or search for my name John Fay.

Hi,

That is called Global Weather and FS04 moved away from that. If you really want that in FS04 you can use ASv6 and apply weather conditions globally.

Hope this helps,
Jim
