Hey guys,

What if......

What if MSFS offered people that made airports a possibility to be in FS? Lets say that a group of guys did a superb rendition of an airfield in a country far away such as Yugoslavia, New Zealand, even here in the states like Phoenix. The FS team might be interested in such work and could pay such groups a little fee perhaps for use of their airport.

I am suggesting this that it might be a fun way for people to help out in the creation of rich scenery for Flight Simulator.

OK, I know some would think they should be paid tons... Well, so much for that team. Next please.

But, some have made some superb airports, like the gentleman that did Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. Those are awesome! I would love to see them in the next Flight Simulator and other such well made airports and I think there are 'some' good designers that would like to help you guys out with the abilities and enthusiasm, (not to mention 'existing' files that are ready to go).

I had been thinking on this for a few days now and it's just overwhelming to think of all the various international airports that 'already' exist.

This way though, you could venture into the most coolest odysee's yet in Flight Simulator, coming accross those cool airfields in Germany and Canada, rare but busy international airports in Russia, and nicely done regular fields here and there for civilian aviation, for those that are wanting to do a cross country flight.

...By the way,

What I meant to say was that this would be done by not 'one' team, but people from all over the world entering their creations. Everyone (that is legitimate) would be able to enter their airports and scenery, so long as it was realistic for the 'now' period in time.

I would think standardization would be a problem. Some people create frame-hogging masterpieces with a bazillion polygons and some people create simple renditions. I suppose if MS specified detailed specs it might be possible but I doubt MS would be willing to pay for each and every little field especially when they're already available for download. Maybe people who are interested could donate their work if they'd like to see it incorporated.

It would also make the install that much bigger. Not so good for the casual gamer with limited HD space. Could be optional maybe.

Not to mention it would cost a fortune and would push the cost of future FS releases over $100...at the Avsim convention they showed some of their tools that they used to create the airports...makes TTools look complicated...personally I think if they released those programs it would be better overall and cheaper for both Microsoft and us...
