View Full Version : Ability to re-load the aircraft without going through the menu.

He's another one I'd like to see.

As we look to allow users to change panel / gauge options "on the fly", I would like the ability to re-load the aircraft without the need to access the menu. Perhaps some gauge variable or similar.

Right now, if we want to make a change to the panel while in flight, we need to go through the menu to reload the aircraft, and this is not practical as the user may have changed key board assignments. Example: If they do not have the menu bar visible, and have re-assigned their Alt key to do something else, we're stuck.

Sure, we know we can have alternate panel.cfg files, but these must be selected prior to flight. We want the user to be able to change things once they are in the aircraft, with just the push of a button. We believe this is more convenient.

If MS happens to have our Beech A36 or Baron, you will see the Configuration Control that we use. Some items here we can engage by re-setting the flight, but when it comes to panel options, a reset will not work, and we must reload the plane / panel.

Hope this makes sense.

There's already pretty much what you want, Lou. I have one of my joystick buttons programmed to do exactly that. Look under settings/assignments, and there's a choice to set button or keyboard key to reset aircraft (don't recall exact nomenclature, though).

It's not "reset" the aircraft, or "reload user's aircraft" as described in the key assignments, Larry, it is found under Aircraft / Select Aircraft in the meunu. That is what I mean by reload, as that is a true reload.

That is what truly reloads all of it, and that is the only way you can affect a panel change. No key for that.

I just loaded up our Baron 58, and while it was running I commented out the ASI in the panel.cfg. I reset the aircraft and the ASI was still there. Only until I chose Aircraft / Select aircraft from the menu, and truly reloaded the Baron did the gauge disappear.

Yeah, we use that reset for changing sounds and such, as it works there, but not for gauges on the panel.

Ahhh, so it doesn't reload the panel. Then I guess it needs enhancement.
