Hello Designers:

I am looking to build an advanced wind gauge. I am not a designer, but I have "assembled" a compilation of different panels for my 737 that use parts from lots of different sources; amoong which is a wind gauge.
what I want to do is improve on that wind gauge, so that you can do 2 additional things without having to go to another window or module.

a: push a button on the gauge that would allow you to find the most favourable wind going in your current direction within say 10,000 ft so that you could request from ATC ( vatsim) a more economic altitude; and

b: allow you to input your destination in a txt box, so that you could see the direction / strength of the "landing" winds prior to getting there. This would allow a proper setup of STAR without bothering the controller.

anybody interested? just reply, and my WestJet 737-400 is ready to test.....

Unfortunately, "winds aloft" data is not available to us in the sim, nor is wind direction at a specific lat/lon available.

What you propose is not achievable in the current version of the sim, and I've seen nothing that would indicate that FSX will be any different. ;)

hmmm... I don't think that is right.

I use FSMeteo, ( lic version) and it comes with a weather gauge that does do exactly that.

maybe it reads the info from FSUIPC? I am not sure, but the data is definitely available.

I can see the winds aloft for about 7 different altitudes, as well as the weather / winds at the given destination.
