Niglt lighting within xml gauges

Hello panel gurus. I have created some buttons to add to a 2D panel. The buttons are perfectly functional and they look great--in the daytime. At night they are barely visible because I don't know how to make them light up with the 2D panel's night lighting. Do I need to add something to the .xml code of my buttons? The effect that I want is for the label of the button to light up with the rest of the panel's light effects, and then the button itself to light up when pressed. Thanks for the help.
