Hello,
I made myself an alternative panel (for personal use only), removing the weather radar and GNS430 as I like a less high-tech style cockpit.
It works great, but I can't get rid of this black patch during night time. Can you please point me to the correct texture file?

Please don't ask me for the panel bitmaps and/or cfg as these are all copyrighted by DF. I only changed them for my own personal use on my PC (unless DF officially authorize this in response to this message).

Hi Oren,

Look for one labeled DFA36_VC2_T.bmp. You will need to use Image Tool or similar to convert it to a .tga file before you can work on it, as it is DXT1 compressed normally. Be sure to compress back to DXT1 after you work on it.

You might also want to have a look at DFA36_VC2_L.bmp, which is the lighting bitmap, but chances are you will be fine just adjusting VC2_T, which is the texture.

I work on the textures as 32bit .tga (targa) files, then compress them as required using Image Tool.

Good luck! :-)

Thanks for the quick reply Lou!
I know about the lighting bitmaps, still need to tweak them to get the lights at the exact new spots ;-)

Ah... that's not it.
I already edited the regulat texture, and it works fine during the day.
But as soon as it's getting dark outside, the black square shows up.
It's not the lighting texture either...

I don't know. Perhaps it's the polygon underneath that causes it, if so, there's nothing we can do, but I would think between the two textures it can be adjusted.

Well... if so, I can't find how to do it.
Anyway, I don't fly that often at night, and it's usually ok until pretty late dusk.
Perhaps I can stick some gauge in there (with a photo or something) just to seal the hole...

BTW Lou,
John from Dreamfleet's Beta asked me about sharing the file if you grant you permission - I am not sure what I can and what I can't publish (maybe just the panel.cfg and two or three textures I modified and only in this forum)?

I don't have access to the email right now, but I can check...
