Hi,
In Archer's manual says "Left and right clicking or mouse wheel scrolling on the bottom click spot will adjust the EGT bug needle to the left or right.".
My question:
1.what is the criterion to set the bug? Depending on what? Should I move it to the right or left?
2.above 3000ft, leaning the mixture, to make the EGT needle reach the EGT bug or reach the peak of EGT?
Your kind help is appreciated.
Regards,
TCC

Hi TCC,

As far as I can tell, the "bug" is just a visual cue to the EGT setting. As you know, as you climb you need to adjust the mixture to optimize the EGT, so by setting the needle at a given EGT reading you can see whether the EGT is rising or falling.

As to how to optimize the EGT (generally 20deg rich of Peak at cruise altitude) this is covered in the manual. Once set, the EGT bug can be aligned with the EGT needle and will subsequently indicate any drift/change in EGT.

Edit: I mis-read your initial posting, and thought that you were refering to the Bonanza. However, the above notes still apply !
