Hi all,

I have recently purchased the A36 and have installed. My problem is that when the the aircraft loads it will crash after a couple of minutes. This only happens with this particular aircraft. I may be wrong but could this be a problem with the wx500 & GNS430. I have reinstalled and as far as i'm concerned have installed aircraft correct. I have also downloaded updates and installed. Help would be appreciated as I have bought this aircraft 3 weeks ago and still have not been able to fly.

Hi Ian,

Regarding the "crash" - is this a crash of the plane or a crash of FS2004 ?

If the latter, have you got a working copy of the GNS430 Garmin Trainer (that can be run outside of FS2004) and do the GNS430, Wx500 and Sandel gauges load / turn on when the Bonanza is loaded ?

Hi Alastair,

Thanks for replying so soon.

FS2004 crashes. sometimes it will close fs2004 and then I would have to restart and sometimes will just freeze, I would have to restart computer.

All the gauges load and turn on when the Bonanza is loaded. The garmin trainer does load but just not sure weather it is running outside of fs2004, how would I know or can I start this separately.

Regards

Ian

Hi Ian,

The Garmin Trainer should be installed in a location on your PC (either in the default location, C:\Program Files\Garmin etc. or a location you selected yourself eg. C:\Garmin.

Once you've located where it is, you should be able to run the program, using the GNC400WT.exe file, which should start the Trainer. If the GNS430 gauge initialises in the Bonanza this is likely not to be the problem.

As for the crash itself, is this occurring after loading the Bonanza then leaving the GNS430 "on" but dormant / not doing anything for some minutes ? If so this is a known "bug" with the GNS series, and can be "solved" (entirely or partially) by running a specific exe file. I'm not on my simming PC and can't remember what its called, but running this file on booting the PC or before starting FS2004 seems to (mostly) solve the problem. I understand that this problem has been resolved in the latest updates to the stand-alone RealityXP GNS units, but can't confirm this first hand.

Hi Alastair,

yes this crash does happen when the garmin has been dormant for some minutes. Please could you let me know how to solve this.

Many thanks

Hi Ian,

Here's the details. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to \FS2004\RealityXP\Common\AvBus. This folder should contain drvsetup.exe

Create a shortcut to this file on your Desktop, then run the file. It should open a Dos box, do its thing, then exit. This should (hopefully) help to fix the problem.

On my system I've additionally added a shortcut to this file in the Startup folder, so that the file runs when the PC is re-booted.

Cheers,

Alastair
