No it is not a bug...You are throttling back too far for your descent. The same would happen in the real aircraft.

Yep. If you throttle back too much (below a certain MP setting - sorry, don't remember off the top of my head exactly what setting it is), the AAS will go off because the gear is not down. You need to be decending at a higher MP setting that you are now. I'd suggest checking the tables that are in the manual. The correct settings should be there.

You can go into the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Sound directory you can find the two gear warning files:
DFA36_gear_dn.wav
DFA36_chk_gear.wav
simply add a .bak onto each file and you won't hear them any more, if you want to restore them you can return them to the .wav suffix and they will be back.
I have them off, because quite often I like to play in mountains and often it is necessary to throttle way back to avoid overspeeding...
I just use the GUMP check routine on approach in any aircraft.

This is not necessary...Just click the AAS switch to turn off the Audio warnings...You will still get the light but so what...You would in the real aeroplane as well :)

If I recall, it is 13" MAP (maybe 11"), and yes, if you don't want to hear them just mute with the AAS button, as described in the manual. Otherwise, no bug here, 100% accurate to the real thing, and common to many real aircraft.
EDIT:
Also, if you are throttling back that far for descent, you are not planning your descent properly / operating the plane realistically. In real life, you could risk shock cooling damage to the engine. Under normal circumstances you never throttle back that far for a descent.
I think what you are doing is throttling back to or almost to idle when descending and, again, this is improper / unrealistic operation, and the warning system then assumes you have just throttled back to idle during your landing flare!
Plan your descent, and you should only have to throttle back to 15-20" or so, and descend at 500-700 fpm. This is what I do in my Dakota, and it should not be much different in the A36.
