This is a series of posts covering a long voyage...It is rather a technical post with a lot of instruction on navigating a small GA aeroplane over long distances in FS2004. The posts are only suitable for viewing with a Broadband connection and you should not attempt to view them with a dialup modem. Just click the URLs below to view the flights. The whole trip is split into eight parts:-

Greetings Peter and Forum!

I noticed the thread in the FS2004 forum on the "Epic Voyage" was locked, so I couldn't post any comments there. Nevertheless, I want to climb on my soapbox concerning the matter. Don't worry though, my soapbox is about matchbox-sized (grin)!

I have followed the postings by Peter McLeland for a long time, and I am a regular visitor of his own website. What strikes me most is Peters easy-going modesty: I've never seen him talk down to, or look down upon, anybody here or elsewhere. Yet I'm pretty convinced that, retired from active flying or not, he can STILL outfly each and any of us on an incredible variety of aeroplanes in real life, and probably on ALL aircraft in FlightSim.

He's a great story-teller who likes to share his stories and experiences with us, and I guess there's hardly anybody here that hasn't learned a thing or two from him. I know I have, and I'm a pretty stubborn bugger when it comes to being taught (grin)!

Moderators of the flightsim.com forums, give the man some leeway, for chrissake! Whether Peter "deserves" or "needs" an apology is a very minor issue, in fact so minor that I can't even see it without my glasses on. The MAJOR issue is that when a bloke like Peter is willing to share his knowledge, memories and stories with me, I sit down, shut my trap, and LISTEN.

Well, I guess it's time to get some soap and wash the brown stuff off my nose (wide and wicked grin)!

Be well, all of you!

Jaap Verduijn.

Jaap,

Thanks very much for your support...But don't worry about it. I have let the matter go :) My posts are not really suitable for that particular forum so I won't post there again. I do post in lots of places and have no difficulties.

Thank you for your kind comments and also for your visits to my Web Site (I really MUST get some more stuff in there...Many pictures waiting but my time gets hijacked).

Happy flying to you!

So very well put Jaap, my sentiments exactly. In fact if I ever make it over the pond I plan on looking Peter up... and hijacking him!
