Early this week I downloaded and installed the Beech A36. After flying for about 15 minutes the screen suddenly goes black for a second and then reopens on my computer startup page. A flight simulator icon appears on the task bar and by double clicking this icon I am returned to my flight which then continues for about 15 minutes before starting the above action all over again.

I am using windows XP and Dell Computer 4550 series, with a Radon9700TX Graphics Card with TV-Out and Dvi.Also a 7200 RPM hard drive with over 45% of space available.

I didn't have this trouble before installing the A36. I will sure appreciate any help as this present condition is very agrivating.

No idea as to cause at present Tommy, but to play it safe, why not download and install the update to the A36, available here:

Tommy, I have had this happen with any aeroplane...it is usually caused by some sort of system maintenance operation kicking in. It is best NOT to have scheduled things on the machine that you use for Flight Simulator...Messenger can do it too :)

While I am here, let me suggest this Microsoft Anti-spyware Beta...It is free and extremely effective. For me, it found a Browser Hijacker that nothing else managed to find, and fixed it. A great bonus from this was the disappearance of a very annoying faint "Stutter" in FS9. As soon as this Browser Hijacker was dealt with, my FS9 returned to its former smooth self. Here is the download URL but it will verify that you are not using "Counterfeit" Windows operating system software before allowing you to download:-

I strongly recommend this product to all.

Thanks Fellows,
I have installed the "Microsoft Anti-Spyware Beta" but haven't had a chance to see if helps. Will try later today and then let you know.

Also, please make sure to install the update as described by Lou above. While the antivirus beta is a good thing to have, I don't think that simply installing it will solve the problem (but you never know with computers :) ). If adding the update doesn't help, I would suggest reinstalling the A36 from the purchase wrapper (the file you originally downloaded with the red airplane icon next to. If you do this, make sure to reinstall the update, too. Also, make sure to turn off any antivirus software and any other file-checking programs that might be running in the background during the reinstall process.

On another thought, you might make sure that you have installed the latest drivers for both your video card and sound card, and make sure you are using the latest version of DirectX.

I followed Peter's advise about the Anti Virus Beta and also followed a message on FSSim forum about removing a program from add/remove called Viewpoint. This did the trick. I have been flying for over two hours and no problems.
Thanks fellows for you promt help with this problem.
