I installed A36 but when it gets to loading the 430 traing manual I get an error "Could not extract current file acess denied" I have uninstalled and re installed several time but no luck. When I start FS and select the A36 I get "Cannot find trainer program" I can run the progarm but I dont have the GPS working. I have also tried installing the GPS in C:\GNS 430 then extracting from there but I still get the message cannot extract..any help out there I love the plane but I need the GPS.

Sounds as if the download file may be corrupted. This happens sometimes. Have you tried redownloading the A36, then reinstalling? If not, I would suggest it. Also, make sure that when you reinstall the you turn off antivirus software and any other file-checking software you might have running in the background.

How do you install the A36? Would you happen to be running an .exe that appears in a folder, or do you run it directly from the installer that asks for your purchase information, and also allows you to do a reinstall.

The latter method is the only way you can install it.

In essence, everytime you attempt to install the A36, do you need to locate your "key" for the installer?

Just to make it totally clear:

Every time you install / re-install you need to run the downloaded "red aircraft" Wrapper file, get online, select your Key and enter the last 4 digits of your purchasing credit card. Once validated a new installation file will be extracted and (normally) run.

The above extraction and installation / re-installation process must be done with any anti-virus or firewall utilities temporarily deactivated.

If you still have problems it might suggest that the Wrapper file you have has been corrupted, so you could try downloading a fresh copy.

Also, make sure that you are logged into your computer with full Administrator rights (some people do not normally run in this state, due to security considerations.)

Cheers,

Alastair

Yes, I suggested above that the download file may be corrupted and asked if you had redownloaded the file, then try installing the new file. Again, I would suggest redownloading the A36, then install it again using the new downloaded file.

Just redownload it and when you open the wrapper file, click on the "reinstall" button that's in the lower right corner, then follow the instructions to revalidate your previous purchase. You'll need your key file that you originally saved onto your harddrive and the last 4 digits of the credit card you used to purchase the product.

Did all that and tried a re install. I still get all the way through until it wants to load the GPS trainer I get the message "An error prevents this program from continuing;could not extract file. Access deined" Im not running any fire walls or anti virus and I have full admin on my compter. I have bought other aircraft from Dream fleet online and have never had a problem. Any chance they will have a cd?

Have you tried using another installation file for the Garmin Trainer :

http://www.garmin.com/products/gns430/

Try downloading this and installing it separately, to a "simple" location such as C:\Garmin. If this works, and you can run the Trainer outside of FS, you're 90% home free ! If you cannot install the Trainer it suggests a system problem, and you may need to thoroughly uninstall any Garmin-related items from the Registry.

It may be worth re-booting the PC to make sure that there's nothing related running in the background.

Assuming that you can install the Trainer, then try another full re-install of the Bonanza except when it gets the initial Trainer installation screen (with the optional "tick box") just choose not to install the Trainer again and end the installation process.

Hopefully we can solve this problem !

Looks like we narrowed it down, after I downloaded the garmin430 I got the same message; "cant extract" So how would I clear the registry of the garmin products? Would this mess up the Garmin applications that run by defualt on the FS2004?

The best way would be to go to Start, Run and type regedit, then search for Garmin. On my system the first references are in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GARMIN

for each reference to the Garmin GNS430 or Garmin Trainer (GNC400WT.exe) remove the entry.

As these refer to the RealityXP products, it shouldn't affect the default GPS500, which is just a MSFS gauge.

Obviously it is important to back up your Registry first !

With the above entries removed you should be able to re-install the GNS430 and GNS430 Trainer, keeping the destination for the latter "simple" such as C:\Garmin.

That was the ticket I went to the Garmin site and downloaded the ZIP file not the EXE and she works like a charm; just wish now I could get the bigger 530 screen in place of the weather radar...but hey im a happy camper...thanks to all for getting me through this mess.
