On initialising the Reality XP Garmin, the database date shows Sept 2002 as the expiry date - is there a site for downloading the database updates?

No, there are no database updates for this. The Garmin uses the database from the real Garmin Trainer and that's the most recent database that Garmin provides with their Trainer. As an alternative, you can add custom waypoints manually. Check the Garmin documentation on how to accomplish this.
