Hi Lou,
Am using WinXP, installed with all security software disabled.
I have installed, uninstalled (twice) just to make sure.
Followed all directions correctly (I belive!)
I dont get any error msgs - after about 1 minute the CD starts up and the FS9 error msg comes on regarding restart.
I have never had a problem with any DF aircraft before this is somewhat similar to the Meridian when first released... dont even remember what that was about now - maybe that trainer thingy...
Please help! Been waiting for this plane for a while and now it cant even load it - LOL
Thanks Folks!

Ted Panamarioff - Kodiak Alaska

Have you tried loading the default flight, then switching to the A36?

I assume you restarted your system after the install?

How about going into your XP Event Viewer and seeing what application errors are described related to FS9. Usually it may describe a gauge error or DLL error or something that can get us on the right track.

Hi Todd,
Thanks for getting back to me quickly!
I always load the FS default flight and a/c and I did several reboots just to make sure.
I am not familiar with the XP event viewer you've mentioned; please explain.
Thanks for your help!

Hi Ted,

There have been a few instances where the GNS430 Trainer hasn't installed properly. Can you run the Trainer outside of FS2004 ? If not, try re-installing it, but to a "simple" location such as C:\Garmin.

As for the Event Viewer, this should help:

To open Event Viewer, click Start, click Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Event Viewer.

For information about using Event Viewer, in Event Viewer, on the Action menu, click Help.

Hi guys, I have the same problem.

Except, I get no error message whatsoever, FS just closes instantly and brings me back to my desktop upon selecting the A36. Normally, I'd be able to select time season/weather and all that in the next screen, but I always crash back to desktop.

Just re-installed FS completely, and I didn't mind doing it actually (just as long as I don't need to again for a while). Same problem persists upon re-installing my A36 (darn!). I installed everything correctly, and the trainer seems to work fine (outside FS2004). I'll try selecting the A36 already with the default ac/flight loaded and see what happens.

Edit: Just tried loading the A36 from the default flight and it didn't work.. However, I did get an error message this time. I took a look at the report and fatal error was caused by this:

ModName: rxpgns430.dll

Looks like a GPS issue.

I'm in the same boat here - double install, firewall off, default a/c loaded (even any other a/c loaded) - all ok - select B36, CTD, no blue loading line. Garmin trainer runs OK outside FS.
Selecting the B36 from the start menu and it's a CTD as soon as fly now button pressed.

Coul you all confirm please:

1) you have installed the A36 and you are running FS9 with an admin account (or an account with admin priviledges)?

2) during the installation of the Reality XP gauges for the A36, the installer properly located your current FS9 installation folder and prompted you with this folder already and correctly set in the edit box (the edit box asking you for the installation path)?

3) if 2) was not what you have had, have you manually selected the fs9 installation folder as the dstination folder, and not anything else, like [fs9]\my_rxp_install or similar?

4) you have installed the Trainer, in the recommended folder in case of failure, i.e. C:\GNS430 ?

Hi Todd,
I too have tried all of what you mention.
I cant count how installs I've done now +10 at least!
I have the FS9 update, all XP updates are current, 256mb nVidia card, all up to date, sufficient system and resources...
The trainer runs just fine... I followed your advice and installed into C\Garmin anyway... no joy.
Here's what the event viewer says for all the events:

The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Flight Simulator 9.0 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: fs9.exe, 9.1.0.40901, rxpgns430.dll, 5.0.0.0, 0000f9f9.

Hmmmm now what? #####... I've waited for months for this plane...
I did manage to set it up using another panel... but hey... thats not what I bought it for!
Thanks,

Ted Panamarioff - Kodiak Alaska... hey at least its sunny here!

Hi Jean Luc,
Yeah...
1)Got full privlidges - admin level
2)Used the default suggested install path for gauges
3)All default locations - the only exception was to install trainer to C\Garmin - only after 7 previous installs
4)as above
Thanks,

Just did the whole thing all over again...
same thing from the event viewer:

The description for Event ID ( 1000 ) in Source ( Microsoft Flight Simulator 9.0 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: fs9.exe, 9.1.0.40901, rxpgns430.dll, 5.0.0.0, 0000f9f9.

I see that it might be something to do with the GNS430?
Hope someone can figure this out!
Thanks,

I totally love this plane, I couldnt help myself, I had to fly it!
I "borrowed" another payware panel that I own and at least I can fly it...
I know you guys will come up with a fix soon... after all this is DF and Flight 1, as a former beta tester I know from experience that they're working on it right now!
Keep up the great work guys, you've got a real winner here!

Hi everyone,
Has anyone who has posted Crash to Desktop problems, managed to get a fix for this problem yet? I bought the product several days ago and as yet I've only managed to view it in the FS9 create a flight page......and I must say it looks great :-)

I'm equally sure that being able to run it in FS9 will be even more fun.

Hope to hear soon - by the way, would having an existing Reality XP product (Jetline 2) installed on FS9 affect things? It seems very strange that only a few people who have downloaded the A36 are affected, so if not program conflict perhaps an issue with graphics card? .....Ok I admit it, I don't have a clue what's wrong!

I am having the same problem (I think). I can look at my nice A36 in the Select Plane screen, but when I push the "Select" button FS9 crashes to the desktop.

I have the feeling that it is because I am trying to run it on an underpowered CPU & GPU. I'm upgrading (soon!), but wanted to buy the A36 on the first day because I love my DF Archer. That and I couldn't pass up such a good price.

My current PC is an AMD 1400 MhZ. The GPU is a GeForce3 with only 64 MB of video RAM. Maybe the Bonanza is just too much for the card! :)

The installation ran to completion without errors (twice) and the GNS430 Trainer runs just fine.

So, for now I'll just have to live vicariously through the flights of others.

the same with me...

installed the A36 like the suggestions here but
everytime i push the "flight now" button i got an CTD.

i`ve installed FS9 4 times now
and the A36 about 10 times
it won`t work for me now...

it`s the first time that i have such a problem
172 Skyhawk works fine, also the ATR and the Meridian...

i can`wait to fly the A36... please work fast on it :)

2) Yes, properly located.
3) No. 2)worked. Did not manually select the path.
4) Yes, C:\GNS430

Just installed the new panel cfg - aircraft loads perfectly !!!!!

I haven't tried to fly it yet (time pressure) but it boots as it should - I don't anticipate any trouble with it. Will give it a fly later.

Thanks, Gary

Hi Elmar,

tried the new panel.cfg but doesn`t work for me.
I tried to ways:

1. selecting the A36 and then "Fly now" Button - result is a CTD
2. starting the default flight with the cessna and selecting
the A36 "ingame" - result is a CTD

Thank you for your help... but doesn`t help me.

Somethink i forgotten to say:

The first time i installed the A36 it works but all gauges were black.
I thought that the installer went wrong so i decided to reinstall
the A36... didn`t worked all the time black gauges.

I decided to install FS9 and the update completely new.
Also the A36... after installation i got all the time the CTD`s after
selecting the A36.

The following Airplanes has been installed on my old FS9 installation:

PSS Airbus
Fokker Project
Flight1 172R Skyhawk
Flight1 ATR
Flight1 Piper Meridian
IFDG Airbus
Alphasim Tornado

Addons: ProjectAI

Hi Elmar,
I havent yet tried your panel.cfg, (my cable system was down since my last post)
I did modify my panel cfg and removed all references to the radar, SND 430 and gauges... It worked fine,
I then began to add them back one at a time - radar, gauges and it worked fine...
I did not add the GNS430 due to it being cited in the event viewer.
Since that time I have not tried any other "fixes"
Thanks for working on this problem!

Hi Alexander,

It seems that your installation has gone wrong badly, starting from the wrapper. Uninstall the A36 through Add/Remove Programs and then run the Flight1 Wrapper (use the re-install option in the wrapper, make sure you have your key handy) again. Make sure there are no other programs open at that time.

Best regards, Elmar

I've now managed to fly the A36 for the first time - no problems - no CTD following modified panel.cfg. As you said in the earlier post the problem is that I am of course missing the RealityXp bits - hopefully this narrows things down a bit.

Following sucess with the modified cfg for the panel - I have now removed the 'ignore this line' code from the references to weather radar. The a/c now works with wx radar operinging properly and causing no startup crash!
Hope this helps.

Hi Elmar,

Thank you very much for this fix. I am now able to load up my A36 just fine! :D

I still have one minor problem, in that the forward view in the 2D cockpit has a big black box covering about one fourth of the screen, in the upper-left corner. I have no doubt that this is completely unrelated to the panel issues.

Thanks again!

EDIT: After I restarted FS the black box disappeared. I have no idea what might have caused it. Anyway, too bad I can't actually fly my A36 on my underpowered PC, but it sure looks pretty (and sounds great!). As soon as my new PC gets here I'll be spending a lot of quality time in this cockpit.

Just tried the enclosed .CFG and the plane flies great, Fast too! Performance was not an issue, fps was good- right down to seeing the Pilot do his instrument scan.
With the exception of the Rxp systems, the panel looks and works excellent. Thanks, Elmar. Hope to see that shiny new GNS430 & wxrad soon. :)

>My current PC is an AMD 1400 MhZ. The GPU is a GeForce3 with only 64 MB of video RAM. Maybe the Bonanza is just too much for the card!

Dear All,

first, le me assure you we are working on it! and this goes fast too!

in three days, we have narrowed down and solved the issues related to "avionics bus resources" and "non-admin accounts".

We are now working on this CTD issue and already have a lead we are exploring about this.

Please note this is very hard to solve since this only affects less than about 10 customers from the total of DreamFleet and Reality XP customers for now. We need to find a pattern in the failure / customer configuration in order to determine what is the root of the problem.

In the meantime, please keep us informed in this thread to help us track who is having an issue.

Thank you for your patience and comprehension.

Ted, Gary, Hrdina,

you are the only ones having the problem, and you have all something in common!

you all run an AMD below 2Ghz... Our code uses SEE instructions, which your AMD is supposed to support. It seems not. It is unfortunate but so far only 2 Reality XP customers also have encountered the same issue. So that totals 5 among all our customer base.

Now what can we do?

Please contact Reality XP technical support with a reference to this thread, and we will offer you to test a non-SEE version of our software to cross check if this solves the issue with your systems!

Hi guys,

While we are working on this, please find an alternate panel.cfg enclosed. I would like to know whether or not the problem dissappears when using this one.

It is basically a panel.cfg with the GNS and weatherradar not included, so if they aircraft loads, those items will be missing.

Alrighty, let me know if the attached panel.cfg helps!

Installation is pretty straightforward:

1. go to your FS9/Aircraft/Dreamfleet A36/Panel folder and rename the current panel.cfg to panel.org
2. extract the panel.cfg in the zipfile to you panel folder

Best regards, Elmar

Thank you very kindly for the offer. However, I will be getting a new machine (AMD 3800!) within a few weeks, so I will hopefully not need the update by then. But I will be happy to contact Reality XP to verify the fix. Is there a direct email address or do I have to go through the tech support web form?
