Hi Cello,
All you have to do to fix this is reset the 727 by using the Config utility on your desktop and then start a new flight.

Hi Cello.
Have you checked you have energy been driven from the proper source?
ex. Select parking brakes from the throttle quadrant.
Then go the upper FO panel. The bus selector must be in "stand by power". Check you battery switch is on. To do this you must click the guard cover and open it by clicking in its bottom part.
Then click the ground interconnect switch to ground supply.
And turn the yellow knob to external power.
Then close the three upper switches of the bus and lights shuld go out.
This will bring your plane alive and your fuel gauges on.
For more reference check the manual :-)

Thanks for your detailed remedy. I'm sure it would have solved the problem. However, I tried the shorter route first suggested to me via the desk top 727 config icon.

The fuel guages in the EP are blank. Does anyone know why? I've ticked the box in 'fuel & payload' in FS9 which asks whether I want the fuel in lbs. Incedentally, there was a message in there warning that the payload was overweight. I altered the figure accordingly. As well as the guages, the orange warning lights in that area don't work either. The fuel guages on my other aircraft are working normally. Could there be a fuel guage file missing and if so what is it called? - or is it, more likely, linked to other guages on one file? I've attached photos of the panel & relevant files.
