Hello,
Just bought the 727, when I load up the default 172 flight in seattle and then go to select the 727, either one of 2 things happen. Either FS just closes itself as if it was never running, or it brings up the MS error box and asks to close fs, but then it freezes my computer in that scenario. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Daniel Sallee

Are you on the exact same computer you purchased it on?

Discovered problem happens in both full screen and windowed. I am on the same computer I purchased it, but during the purchase process, I opted not to install right away, and instead later went to the C:/Flight One folder, selected the 727 installer, and installed from there. Everything appeared to work perfectly, my Config Manager works great, the airplane loads in the select aircraft menu fine, the problem occurs when i click select.
Thanks,
Daniel Sallee

Not wise to do that, Daniel.

Uninstall, and run the .exe again, and install it at that time. Do not run from the folder.

Then if problem persists report back.

Hi,
Tried reinstalling from the .exe file like you said, and the problem unfortunately still persists. Hope I can get this fixed, the airplane previews sure look great.
Thanks,

What operating system are you using?

Please check the Event Viewer and see if there are any error messages logged for FS. If there are, please post the error message(s) here.

Hello,
I'm operating on XP. Where can I locate the event viewer?
Thanks,

Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer.

Ah, My apologies, i've made a mistake in reporting my problems to you. This computer is running on windows ME unlike my other FS computer. The control panel does not have that option in it. Any other ideas?
Thankyou,
Daniel Sallee

Daniel, do yourself a favor and upgrade to XP. You will LOVE the difference.

Win98/ ME is a risky proposition at best, I would not suggest it.

Please list your system specs, specifically processor, video card and RAM.

What happens if you DON'T load over the default flight?

Im not a big computer buff, i fly fs but i honestly have no idea what my system specs are... its a Dell Dimension 4300... Pentium 4... Windows ME... Radeon 7200 Video Card... If you need more info, where do i find it? When trying to load over a regular flight or loading the aircraft from the create flight menu, i get the exact same results. Every time, after i press the select button when choosing the DF 727(any of the choices) it sits and loads for about 20 seconds then just closes my sim. One time i got the default MS error message, and one other time the panel loaded for about 3 seconds then closed like every other time. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Daniel Sallee
P.S. - Lou, this is my Primary FS computer, it runs on Windows ME. I tried switching to XP and it killed my performance. I'll switch it over at some point. I do love XP though, way better and more stable system. I run it on my other FS computer, but thats primarily for Instrument training, and runs with The whole precision flight controls package, plus its not connected to the internet, so cant get the 727 for it. Thanks!

Bottom line, Daniel: This will most likely be the LAST DF product that even has a chance of working with ME.

Example: Our forthcoming A36 Bonanza, and a trio of Pipers following that will ONLY work with XP. I'm alomost certain out new 737s will be just the same.

These older operating systems are simply not able to work with the programming / graphics that we are putting into products.

I say this to you, and anyone else still hanging on to OS's like ME and 98. We simply cannot do what needs to be done with these systems; they do not support it.

Just advice and explanation, nothing more.

It could be that your system is just not up to the task. My only suggestion is to open config manager and select all the lowest settings possible (like no VC, no enhanced sounds, etc), then try again.

Lou,
I'll be upgrading my entire computer sometime in the next few months, so it wont be a future issue. As for now, do you have any suggestions for making the 727 work on my computer, or alternatively, is there a way for me to transfer it to my other FS computer, which runs on XP but is not connected to the internet? Thansk again, really appreciate the fast replies and good service!

Did you try what I suggested in my post?

Hi,
Tried that, and at the same time turning settings way down on FS to ver minimimal. Still no luck. Also tried different resolutions and full screen or windowed, and no luck. Sorry for the trouble... Any other ideas?
