Mabey a stupid question.I have read the FMC manual and as far as i can tell the STEP CLIMB can not be set up or am i reading it wrong.If it can be set up i cant seem to get it to work. Can somebody make clear for me.

Hi Bob,

The step climb appears to be working correctly for me.

To utilize, go to the “CRU” page and next to the LSK-R1 key you should see “STEP.” Type in the desired new cruise altitude and line select from the scratch pad. In the right lower right corner of the CDU page should be the net effect of the climb – penalty, or savings in terms of fuel use.

Caution! The DF cruise page always displays a maximum altitude of 370 and this is not correct. A more accurate cruise altitude is “OPT” rounded to the nearest correct altitude for direction of flight. However, DF is correctly modeled in that if too high an altitude is desired, a penalty may be displayed, along with the distance before the step is to be initiated.
