Thought I would try to get some input on using the HOLD button on the FMC. Tried it tonight for the first time and it worked like a charm. Not much on the topic available so here is a screenie.

I pressed HOLD;
Selected the waypoint where I wanted to start the hold;
AP did the rest as you can see.

To disable and continue flight
Went to LEGS page;
Pressed DELETE;
Selected HOLD waypoint;
A message appears saying DELETE ARMED;
After a while hold disappears and you are on your way again.

Neat.

I know this is nothing new to the seasoned flyers. Figure the newbies could use the info.
Maybe somebody could write of couple of lines describing the use of HOLD and the conditions under which it is used.

Another neat hold option is the hold PPOS, hold present position which puts you in a hold immediately. When you are released just hit the exit hold and you are on the way to the next current waypoint OR select another waypoint, make it current and then execute it and off you go. I had to do two holds a couple of weeks ago in the big Denver online flying and had never done one but it was a piece of cake...
