Hey guys,

I finally purchased the 737-400 and I must say it is an amazing piece of software. I'm having a blast with the autopilot and FMC. However, the TCAS is my favorite part of the program. Since ATC in FS2002 doesn't provide any separation services, I find the TCAS very useful in maintaining proper spacing between myself and AI aircraft when on approach.

In fact, just last night, while on vectors for the ILS Rwy23 at Geneva, I saw on TCAS that ATC had vectored another aircraft about 8 miles in front of me. I reduced speed immediately which gave the AI aircraft plenty of time to land and taxi (very, very slowly) off the runway, thus avoiding the typical ATC ordered go-around. Very cool! Before your TCAS, I was relying on radio transmissions to get an approximate idea of where the other aircraft were.

Hopefully we'll see other authors (freeware and payware) incorporating realistic TCAS gauges with their panels as it really gives one a good picture of the traffic flow.

:)

you want to be careful with ATC when flying into Innsbruck, Geneva..... they take you so close to mountains I have to go VFR, cancel IFR, so they don't vector me into Mount Blanc. Also you can fly the SID aswell, but do I have to go VFR?

Actually, you have to be careful anywhere the terrain rises more than a few feet. :) I think 2002 ATC looks at the airport elevation only and not the surrounding terrain. Because of this, I don't fly with low weather settings into any airport surrounded by mountainous terrain.

In order to fly any SID/STAR as published with all altitude constraints, you'll have to either cancel IFR or not use ATC at all. I've never tried this with "filed" flight plan (i.e., flight planner loaded route), but you might also try calling ATC in the air and see if they will provide flight following.

Does anyone know why ATC make you fly such a massive amazingly huge circuit? Downwind leg is in another country than your destination in Europe quite a bit of the time. Where are the values etc FS2002 uses for this and can it be edited/fixed?

I got no idea, help.
