View Full Version : Whatever happened to the DF737 FMC???

I use a Pentium 4, 2GHz-Computer with 512MB DDR and GeForce2MX400, 64MB and never had difficulties with the framerates of FS2002 and/or the DF737. After I installed the Cold Climate Fix I got framerates of 3-4 frames/sec in LEPA. Prior to the update I had no difficulties there concerning framerates!

There was zero change in the FMC aside for functions that are only called while on the N1 limits page.

I get identical frame rates before and after the cold climate fix.

Well, I just didnīt have this problem before - I have made about 50 flights with the DF737 in FS2002 until now. Rather disturbing to get framerates of 3-4 frames/sec after a two hoursī flight and having to land under these circumstances... :-)
I have no idea what else -apart from the "new FMC", version 2.3- could have been the reason for that as nothing else has changed on my system...

Walter

P.S. Everything was OK on takeoff however!

Do you get these framerates before or AFTER a flight (= already on takeoff or after the Dreamfleet-software has been running for an hour or two)???

Welcome in Vienna :-)!
Did you see my 737s (BA, G-DOCC Blue Poole or Lauda) on the apron??? :-)

Hi

Yes,But I like them all.Was flying G-DOCS.Great weather this morning 0/0 on dep EGBB and almost unlimited with light winds at LOWW shot a nice final to 34.
Do you have that freeware scenery for LOWW?It`s pretty nice.
Had a great flight just a shame no atc.
Anyway I hope you get sorted out with the framerates(Reinstall of DF and cold patch maybe).

Good Luck

Yes, at the moment I think these are the most beautiful DF737 - aircraft: G-DOCC and G-DOCS. But of course, I donīt know them all.

So you came in via Sollenau, then :-)

For FS2002??? I only know of an FS2000 freeware scenery...Did I miss one for FS2002???

I certainly hope this, too :-)

Have you figured out what was the problem in your framerate drop?

Yes. This was an e-mail I sent to Tom Main:

"It will certainly not surprise you, but you were right: the Cold Climate Fix has nothing to do with the extremly low frame rates I experienced. I made several "test-flights" and found out that this phenomenon ONLY exists on the island of Majorca (scenery by Toni Agramont). I then selected the default-Cessna and frame-rates were about 30 fps when taking off at LEPA. I flew all around Majorca for about 15 minutes or so and the frame-rates always were between 20-30 fps. Then suddenly they dropped to about 6 fps only to decrease to about 1-3 fps in the North of the island. I have no idea why this happens as other parts of the island are much more detailed. Trying to fly with 1 fps is "hard work" but I managed to get back to LEPA where I landed with 30 fps again (this is strange as my frame-rates with the DF737 were about 1 fps after touch-down in LEPA)!
And this with a 2GHz- Computer with 512MB DDR-RAM and Geforce 2 MX400, 64MB!!!
So, Iīm convinced now that the scenery is the culprit which is sad as it looks very nice and Tony has a new scenery of Portugal out which I dare not to install now...The reason that I have not encountered these problems on my previous flights to LEPA must be that I obviously selected different routes for arrival and so omitted areas with "frame-rate-problems". Still, I donīt know why I had no problems with frame-rates on runway 24R in Lepa before...(last time with DF 737: 1 fps!!!)
Fortunately I found out all this BEFORE I un-installed the Cold Climate Fix...
So the DF737 is acquited of any guilt (concerning this one problem)! Sorry for suspecting it of having caused this problem but Iīm still a little nervous when problems arise during a flight in the 737 :-) (Maybe this is a realistic feature of the DF 737 -built in on purpose - to simulate the nervousness of real-life-pilots when they suspect problems with the rudder of their real-world 737s... :-) )."

I downloaded a fs2002 balear scenery (I think the update of LEPA2K) and I donīt know the author. But approaching LEPA caused a framerate-drop down to 2-3fps, so allthough the scenery is pretty nice I deleted it and now I can approach LEPA with 25fps. So any ideas if there is a LEPA scenery not having such problems?

By the way, the Balears are pretty nice without any add-on scenery comparing to fs2000!
