I started flightsimming in 1986 or -87. I think it was with FS2. I've probably spent many thousands of hours with various simulators through the years but never performed an automatic landing.

After spending about 200-250 hours in the GA 737 and after reading all the "realism" issues in this forum I decided that I must try an autoland.

Guess what? IT WORKED ! I will probably never do it again though, because it was a boring experience but it was nice to see that it all went so smoothly.

Congratulations indeed. I take it that before this your were landing it manually, as opposed to just stopping the sim when you lined up with the runway? ;-)

I always feel folks should learn to land manually first, and become good at it before even attempting an autoland. :-)

Now, if you can just get the flight attendant to bring you that coffee, you will really be an expert! ;-) It's getting that coffee that is the hardest part of operating the 737; no one has managed to do it yet!

As an old "stick and rudder boy" I always land manually. Thats why I look forward to the Archer and 727.

I'm almost an exception from the coffee-rule. My wife actually came running with a cup once when she heard that I had pressed the button. But it has only happend once.
