When I finish downloading the update for FS2k2, I try to open the file, but it gives me an error that says "Zip file is damaged, truncated, or has been changed since it was created. If you downloaded this file, try downloading again." And I have downloaded it again, 3 times! is somthing bad with how I'm downloading it or should I just try again later?
Thanks,
Michael Hawkins

Michael--
For some unexplained reason, I have heard of this happening to others and it has also happened to me when downloading from various sites. Sometimes it fixes itself if you reboot your computer after you download the file, but before you try to open it.
Worth a shot, right? :-)

Thanks for your suggestions, I will try them when I finish downloading the update (which I am, again, right now). After thinking it over, I think that somthing is cancelling my download before it finishes, because it usually takes 2+ hours to get to about 60% but then it finishes in about 10 minutes after that, so I thinks its not getting the whole file when it downloads, what can I do about that?

Michael-
It takes you 2 hours to download 60% of a 15mb file???? Wow! That is extremely slow. I have a modem at home (28.8 is the best I can connect at) and it takes 1 1/4 hours to download the whole thing. Maybe you should disable any antivirus software you have running when downloading. Also, I would suggest not using any download accelerator, just use the standard browser download option.
Just some more thoughts. :-)

Well Jeff, The file just finished downloading again, I restarted the comp before opening the file, and..... no joy....... Still says the same thing, so I guess my problem is what I stated before, would it help if I used a program to restart the download and save what has already been downloaded, like GetRight or somthing similar?

Have you been using a download accelerator up to this point?
Do you have any antivirus software running in the background?
This sure seems strange. :-roll

Mike,
Microsoft Internet Explorer has a bad habit of trying to restart bad downloads and use what is cached. I have ran into this problem many times with LARGE downloads. The cure is to delete the downloaded file and then go to your IE "Tools-Internet options" menu and under the Tempory Internet Files, select "Delet Files". This is where IE keeps the temp copies of your downloads and IE will try to use this copy when you try to download the same file again. You can check the downloaded file, if your hold the mouse curser over the "zip" file and will tell you if it is bad or corrupted (Need web view option on).
I also use "Getright" and works when the download sites are very busy.

Hey Jeff, I am not using a download accelerator, but I do, I believe, have a anti-virus system. should I disable that? Will that make the file download faster, or just hope to stop corrupting the file? But I'll try it. Thanks

LAST EDITED ON Jan-02-02 AT 02:19PM (EDT)[p]Well... We seem to have another problem, I tried downloading GetRight and I got this message when trying to open the file.
"Could not Initialize installation. File size expected=2188297, size returned=1998784"
So what should I do?
Do you know any other programs similair to Getright?
I JUST WANT TO FLY MY 737!!:)

Hi,
You could always try Gozilla, i always use it, even tells you if the download site resumes broken downloads.
www.gozilla.com/info.html
You,ll find it under that section.
Regards Shaun.
