The following is reprinted from the Cessna 310's manual, and concerns the operation of the 310's fuel system, and describes limitations place upon it by Flight Simulator.
_______________________________________________________________
Fuel System: It is impossible to simulate the real Cessna 310’s fuel system within FS due to limitations within the simulator. In fact, the fuel system we have simulated, one with 2 main tanks and 2 auxiliary tanks will not operate as it should due to these limitations and, there is nothing we can do about this. However, we wanted to include at least 4 fuel tanks with the Cessna 310, as this is the minimum number the 310 will have. In reality, the Cessna 310 can have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 fuel tanks. What we did was combine the total fuel that could be held in 6 fuel tanks into the 4 fuel tanks we provided.
On the Cessna 310, the MAIN tanks are the wing tip tanks, and the auxiliary tanks are located in the wings. Two optional tanks can be located forward of the wing baggage lockers. The real N137CM has 5 fuel tanks, which means it has only 1 wing locker tank, and this tank is located on the right.
Again, we have provided a fuel capacity within the 2 MAIN and 2 AUX tanks that equates to the fuel that would be stored in 2 MAIN, 2 AUX, and 2 wing locker tanks; the maximum number of fuel tanks the Cessna 310L can have.
What you will note with the fuel system’s operation is the following:
1.The fuel selectors located on the pop-up fuel selector window will default to being set on the MAIN tanks.
2.Flight simulator will ignore this setting, and instead start to draw fuel from the auxiliary tanks instead, before beginning to draw from the main tanks. There is nothing we can do about this.
Our suggestion for operating the fuel system on the Cessna 310 is to do the following:

DO NOTHING!
Leave the fuel selectors set as they are, and allow FS to drain first from the AUX tanks, and then from the MAIN tanks.
Regards,
