Just like I stated, What is the point of belonging to a VA? What can you do with becoming a member to one of the VAs? I was just wondering, Thanks!

LAST EDITED ON May-25-02 AT 12:11PM (EDT)[p]Well, a VA is like a club. You just get to know people who like to sim. Most VA's post an assignment schedule of some kind and track the hours that you fly. It's somewhat entertaining, but I find that flying real-world airlines on real-world schedules to be funner.

What can you do with becoming a member to one of the VA's you say. Well, for me it was a great experience. I got to know some real great people, and the comradery is second to none. We go to the chat room and resolve problems, and chat. We fly on-line and have heaps of fun. I decided to take on more responsibility and test and repaint aircraft for the VA, and now I have opened my own VA in New Zealand called Tasman Airways. Come and have a look around at http://tasmanairways.com

Well, most of us who belong to VA's enjoy flying as a member of a real airline crew. There are many many many VA's to choose from, some based on real-world airlines and others on ficticious ones. Some use smaller "commuter" planes, and some are exclusively military or heavy-commercial. There are even cargo VA's. As a member, you may participate in group "fly-ins" and other events that are only available to those members. Most VA's have a 'hub' that you can join and may be assigned specific routes or schedules to fly. Some take it very seriously and others maintain only occasional flights as a 'hobbiest' -- it's up to you as to how 'real' you want it to get. You would fly current routes, STAR's, DP's, etc, in accordance with your VA's policies. I would encourage you to not only stop by our VA's website, but to check as many out as you can to see if you would like to join one. Putting it simply, it takes your flight simulation up one more level.
