View Full Version : What kind of monitor should I use?

Hi,
I'm just thinking about building a small cockpit. Nothing too fancy, but I was hoping I could use some free glass cockpit panels that I found online at http://freefd.homelinux.com/freefd/download.html. They might not be as good as project magenta, but it's good enough for me.

Anyway, I was wondering what kind of monitors most people use for the EICAS and EADI. I've seen some shots of the expensive cockpits that look like they use LCD screens behind the panel, but what size are they and where do people get them. http://www.737simguy.com has a few in the panel that are kind of what I'm looking for.

Hi, you can use tube monitor 15-17 inch monitor.

I think Free FD has some limmitations because you can't save the size and position setting.. Or anyone know how ?

With Project Magenta you can save the last position and size so when you load them you don't have to do it again..

But if you want a better "free" way to do it then edit your aircraft panel then drag them to the panel monitor...:)

Thanks for the reply,
I downloaded the version 5 beta of FreeFD and it will allow you to minimize the frame around the window and it also saves the position of the window so when you restart, you don't have to reposition the gauges.

Do you know if there is a website for the cockpit pictures you posted? I was thinking that I don't need to build anything too complex, and the second picture in the series looks about as far as I could probably go :)
