X-Plane Updates

Just bought X-Plane version 5.52. Also downloaded the 5.99 patch. Could someone tell me what to do to install it, 'cos I'm haveing a bit of trouble with it. Please. Thanks.

LAST EDITED ON Oct-11-01 AT 09:43PM (EDT)[p]Version 599 is not a complete update. You'll need to get version 566 from ftp.x-plane.com in the links folder, I believe. Then add version 599 to that if you want. There's no installation. Just unzip the download, locate and drag a shortcut of the various exe's to your desktop and drop in the CD and you're good to go. A crank up the graphics. Enjoy.

You need to extract the contents to a temporary folder and then place the contents of the folders into the same folders in your X-plane directory....one folder at a time....good luck.

If you find that your joystick will no longer do anything just go to your windows directory and delete all the files that have .PRF and then restart X-plane and you will be set after you setup things again.

I am also lerning the ins and outs and have found that the program is great for messing with and great for fun and WOW on Mars and Space!

Ok folks. Got the 566 update and popped it on a CD. Unzipped it to a temporary folder. Now call me stupid, but what now? What do I do with it. Where do I put it?

Mac's comment:
It is an update but not one that is installed over the old one. It is a new program by itself so just install it on your HD and put the original X-Plane in the drive and run 566 from the hard drive.

You can then run any planes from V5.32 and up to 599 just fine and also the scenery for the most part will work also.

Then get the addon "update" called 599 and after you expaned it in a seperate directory, thats how I do things, you can copy all the stuff in the 599 directorys into the same in 566 and let it overwrite all.

The run the game as B4 and it will have the newest good stuff.

BTW not to misslead the yunger ones YES there is sex after 60 BUT I just can't seem to remember it or it hurts to much to do it! OK it is fun to think and talk about and you don't get tired or acky all over from to much activity...
