Here's a response that MS sent me after I "complained" about the annoying bleed-throughs at many airports in FS2002:
<From Microsoft Support>
Hello Ryan,
Thank you for contacting Microsoft Online Support.
I am Guruprasad from Microsoft Consumer Games Product Support, and I will be helping you today with Flight Simulator 2002.
If I have understood correctly, in some of the Airports, the taxiway disappears or deteriorates gradually, leaving out the grass underneath it.
Ryan, thank you for sending the screenshot. This behavior may also occur due to video acceleration. Just to check whether it is a video issue or not, we will now try to run the simulation in reduced video acceleration mode.
Reduce Hardware Acceleration:
NOTE: When you reduce the graphic hardware acceleration setting, your computer's graphics performance may be reduced. In addition games that require 3D acceleration to run may not start if you reduce the hardware acceleration setting to Basic or None.
To reduce the graphics hardware acceleration setting in Windows 98:
1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click System.
3. On the Performance tab, click Graphics.
4. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider one notch to the left.
5. Click OK, and then click Close.
6. Now check whether the issue persists.
7. If the issue persists, repeat the above steps to reduce one more notch.
8. Continue this process and launch the game until the hardware acceleration is set to “None” or “Null”.
In Windows XP, to reduce the Acceleration, go to Control Panel->Display->Settings->Advanced->Troubleshoot.
The result of above steps will help us in determining the cause for this issue so that we can troubleshoot it effectively. Please let me know the result.
If you have any concerns regarding the above information, please feel free to contact me.
I am looking forward to your response and thank you again for using Microsoft Online Support.
Have a nice day!
<END SUPPORT>
So, I haven't tried this yet, but once again, I don't think these tech people know what to do any more than us flight simmers do.
Has anyone had any luck getting rid of the bleed-through texture "mishaps?"
