View Full Version : Any planes with operable tail hook? Or doesn't the carrier have arresting cables?

I finally (after many many tries) can land the F-4, and a downloaded F-18, on the carrier. BUT I can't ever catch an arresting cable. I get a bolter everytime. There's no control on the panel to lower the hook (although the manual says don't forget to lower the hook!) "H" on the keyboard does nothing. Also, the manual says jettison fuel to reach minimum weight, and "R" is listed in the manual to jettison ("R"elease), but "R" does nothing when flying either the F-4 or the F-18. Does anybody know if the program actually works like there is an arresting cable (or four, as in real life) on the carrier deck? Is there a plane for download out there with a hook? I go to the ftp site mentioned in the manual, (to try and find the A-4 mentioned in the manual for download) and I get a single page, where none of the links work. Can anybody help?
Thanks-
DaveC

First off.....if there is no switch for the tailhook on the panel, it is not equipped. You can add it by going into planemaker and editing the panel. For downloadable planes try
www.x-plane.org Just make sure you download planes that will work on you version of x-plane.
