Hello--I just bought X-plane and I'am having a heck of a time trying to program the buttons on my CH Pro Yoke. I had no problem with the axis setting for the yoke and pedals and was able to get the throttle OK but the menu in x-plane assigns numbers (which mean nothing to me) for trim, flaps, etc. Could anyone out there lend me hand. Thank you.

Push the button on your controller that you want to use for a certain task. Then you left mouse click on that task. Do this for each button on the controller and it should be programed.

Thanks, however I tried that. Hold down controller button, left click menu button. Hold down controller button, left click menu wording. I even tried the reverse, i.e menu button first then controller button, etc. If the answer lies in there somewhere its not making sense since everything else seems to work ok, yoke axis, rudder, etc., and I CAN, of course, click on the panel to obtain control (not what I want). Since I find it hard to fly by mouse or keyboard I guess I'll stick with FS2K.

It's too bad that you are giving up on x-plane!
I personally find it much more superior than fs2k(i have all of the msfs sims and I just bough xplane several mths ago) I also had some dificulties with it but if you just keep at it you'll get the hang of it!

As far as youy joystic programming is concearned, try this.
in the settings menu select the set joystic function or somethig like that, i think you know whick submenu I'm talkn about.

then do this, first push your joystick button then with the left mouse button sel;ect which function you want done,
Now push a diferent button on the joystick then left click on the function you want done.
Example, I have a joystick that has 4 buttons on the sides
I pushed botton 1 then with the left mouse button I selcted the up flaps function.
I pushed the button number 2 and with the left mouse button I selcted the down flaps function.

and same thing for the rest of the buttons on your joystick.

Hope this helps.

Sam

I've been running X-Plane for a month or two now, and I find myself rarely using it for the same reasons mentioned above. I've got a CH FlightSim Yoke USB, and it's got those three nice axis levers on the column that I use for throttle, mixture and prop pitch in FS2k. It seems like X-Plane only recognizes the throttle lever. The other two don't register in the axis setup screen, so I can't assign them to anything. Anyone know if Austin has committed to adding this to an incremental update anytime soon? It might result in me using X-Plane more, 'cause I adore the frame rates.
