Shaky Clouds

Hello all again. I just got X-Plane, and I might say, it's a different sim. Yes, I own Flightsim 2000, Flight Unlimited 3, and Fly!, but X-Plane allows you to do so much more and I just love the flight modelling! I'm having a little problem though. I have a VooDoo3 PCI with the latest drivers and DirectX 8.0a and my clouds in X-Plane "Shake". Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Is this normal? Any help greatly appreciated-redhotchilipeppers™

I have a few mild glitches too, like all of the terrain grid lines are visible because I have an ATI video card and per Austin he hasn't been able to resolve that issue yet in the programming.

He is VERY good at returning emails and taking suggestions and offering advice.

He explained the ATI problem to me, it satisfied me because he also improved runway lighting effects in the upgrade which I suggested and it became apparant to me that unlike our beloved FS2000, which has a small army of programmers working on it, Austin is one guy doing an immense bit of software development AND taking suggestions directly from his customer base.

Sadly, there are levels of firewalls to keep us away from the folks at MS who seem to glean their new ideas from gnomes or fairies or with a crystal ball, but they definitely do not have a direct email address available to us and they do not return email.

Don 't give up yet. Write to Austin.

Not familar with the shaky clouds but the X-plane webpage www.x-plane.com indciates that you should be using the quote:

3DFX USERS: The Voodoo 1.04.00 drivers have a bug that keeps them from working more than once between machine restarts with X-Plane. You can try these drivers to since they seem to fix the problem for most 3dfx users. There will NOT be a fix for this from 3dfx since they are out of buisiness.

Check out the site for support as well, you can submit a request for technical support directly from X-plane aswell.

I have a P233 224meg ram and a 16 meg voodoo 3 3000 agp and my
clouds look great. I had re-vert back to my older drivers and
everything worked out great. 1.01.00 drivers, I have been making
video tapes with the video out feature the card offers and
so far looks good no shaky clouds. Thunderstorms are great
with real weather turned on while taping, got some good action
shots of my plane being hit by lightning.

"Hit" by lightning? What was the result, if any, and could you post those shots, please? It would be interested if being hit by lightning would at least shutdown the engines and cause you to go into a autorotation/emergency landing.

Only got that on video tape, I have a couple other screenshots
I plan on posting this next weekend when I get time. I didn`t
crash or flat spin. Just a brilliant flash and a loud crash in the cockpit and sudden loss of power. I had the cockppit view on when it hit.Would loved to have seen the external on tape.

This is the link to my old site that I can`t update, I pasted
an HTML tag into it from the weather underground and now
the only way I can update it is buy HTML and I am not that good

Weel I bought x plane version 5.40 about 3 years ago and recently updated it to v 5.66 but in bothe versions 5.40 and 5.66 everytime I fly 1 hour or 2 and coming in to land the Airport runways shake and the taxi way everything shakes also the ground and from and outside view the airplane shakes please help because with all of the shaking i get kind of dissapointed

Which version of X=Plane do you have.
The Voodoo is fine for 5.66 however the reason I bought my GeForce3 was to run 6.xx
I don't have any problems at all.
Installed 6.30 last Friday and it was great!
