Who says you have to invent all the good ideas - borrow them from other people whenever possible.
Any this thread is for PRACTICE in making posts,
practice in attaching the Duenna JPG,
practice in attaching the Flight Analysis validation screen shot.
Please do not track the baton on this thread - just practice making posts.
In our flight practices - this is a process in which we all could use some practice. During the race is not the time to spend 10 min trying to figure out a post process.
This is a direct quote from John last year and originally came from Sonar5/Joe on the two time winning team. You SHOULD read John's full post on the private team website:
You will need to do two posts for your leg:
1) When you pick up the baton, something like this:
xx:xx UTC - Picking up the baton at KXYZ with a P-38L, going to KZYZ
Please post:
- UTC Time when you are picking up the baton
- Location you are picking it up (in order to cross-check with the last pilot, you can start directly on the active runway)
- Aircraft you are using
- Optional: your planed destination (there will be a few times when we do NOT want the destination posted)
2) When you are done and have landed, drop the baton:
xx:xx UTC - Baton is free at KXYZ
- UTC Time you have landed, aircraft is standing still (no need to taxi to a parking space)
- Location you have landed
3) Validation - You will need to validate your flight. This is done by one of two methods
As a validation you will need to post something to proove that your flew your leg. For this race we have two methods available. You should post your validation AFTER you have posted "the baton is free". This allows the next pilot to take off without loosing time.
a) Fly with the Duenna (see http://johannesmueller.com/duenna). Post the validation graphic created at the end of your flight. In the text file created, you can find the local name of the graphic. Copy + Paste this into the attachment field in the forum.
b) Open the flight-analysis-window, zoom out so that you can see your starting and destination airport. There should be a red line between the two places, unless something went wrong in the FS. Take a screenshot, post it in the forum.
This will take a graphics editing tool to turn the screen shot into a .JPG - MS Paint will work but is not a good choice.
The Flight Analysis option should be your last resort to verify your flight - but everyone should practice using that method. Backups are no good unless you practice them.
Also remember - Be sure to click the button to identify the file as a .JPEG and the button to embed attachment URL in the message text box
If you have any questions or difficulties - ask/ describe them here.
Ladies and Gentlemen - in the race proper posting is just as important as flying.
Also please reply to this post ONLY Try to not reply to any other message on the thread except the first one for baton posts - it makes the forum much easier to read and much easier for the organizers and judges to update the team scoring.
