Fellow simmers,
Burningman is a festival of radical self expression held in Nevada's Black Rock Desert (or "playa") at the beginning of September.
It is a beacon for some of the most amazing large scale artists in the world, and becomes the fifth largest city in Nevada, before it vanishes without a trace.

We have developed a project called the Virtual Playa Project. It is a complete scenery pack designed for Microsoft flight sim, and allows users to navigate the art and city of Burningman in great detail. It has recently been featured on CNN, Wired and Tech TV, and It may be the most fun scenery ever designed for flight sim.... and its FREE!!

Our experiment this year is to be running the project live from the desert each night between 9:00pm and midnight (maybe later!) form Monday29th August to Saturday 3rd September, and opening multiplayer rooms at zone.msn.com to allow anyone to join us for guided tours.

You will first need to download and install the scenery pack from http://virtualplaya.org/ or you will only see blank desert!

If you want to participate in this experiment, please contact me at Andrew@virtualplaya.org so we can get everyone on the same page.
Thanks for your participation... See you in the desert!

I don't see the burn, All I see is the desert with no lights or anything. I installed the first to files into my flight sim folder and the 3rd into my flights folder.

Thanks for getting on board!!

Assuming that your copy of msfs2004 is installed into the default location....If you hit "unzip" when downloaded, they should install to the right place.

Check to see if the files are in
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\addon scenery
Check to see if the flight files are in
C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Flight Simulator Files

If yes to both, you should find some virtual playa flights in "my saved flights", and that should take you to the action.

You can also look for Black Rock Intl Spaceport in your airport list,(airport id = BRC) And take off from there.

Please dont hesitate to contact me at Andrew@virtualplaya.org and we will get you airborn.

I'm downloading and installing now... just to say, the link to your Flight Files on the site is wrong, it should be:

http://uturn.thedude.com/vp/2005_VPlaya_Flights_0828.exe

NOT

http://virtualplaya.org/2005_VPlaya_Flights_0828.exe

ACK! There's no scenery installed!!! I used your Cessna final approach flight, but got no scenery. Sorry, but you've got problems to iron out. ^^

Problems... couldn't find the Spaceport. Also, where do we get the Nautilus Bus and couch aircraft to use the Saved Flights? Also, it would be great if you could explain Burningman to me. :D It sounds neat.

Phew, that was a lot of edits, but those're the problems.
