Hi all,
For this months event we are going to be testing your skills in the heavies with a European shuttle service from Manchester UK to Geneva Switzerland with a change over at Heathrow.
Nothing spectacular, just an opportunity to meet and greet any new participants and generally have a chat en route. For those wishing to use cockpit sharing, this would be a perfect opportunity to test it out as we plan to use it for future events.

The flight:
Manchester
Depending on weather we will be departing Manchester RW6L(Direct Trent) or 24R(Direct Honiley)
Departure time will be 20:00 local time (BST) This will put us in Heathrow at around 20:45 BST. This flight must be flown in a Boeing 737 (Preferably default) We hope to have the last aircraft departing at 20:00 so please be ready on the tarmac at 19:30 to give us all time to get organised.

Heathrow
From here we will be changing from a 737 to a 747 (Preferably Default) and depending on the weather we will be departing 9L(Direct Mayfield) or 27R(Direct Midhurst) at around 21:30 BST. This will put us in Geneva at around 23:00 BST.

There will be FSNav flight plans sent out with registrations confirmations.

Cockpit sharing
Not paramount for the event but there are three things you will need if you wish to test out the cockpit sharing.
1> A user ID at http://www.gates.to
2> The Cockpit sharing software installed and working. This can be downloaded from the above site once you have registered. The latest version is at the top of the downloads page. File name: FSNet_020.zip
Maybe a good idea to familiarise yourself with the software prior to the event but don't worry too much as there will be help available on the day should you require it
3> A partner to share with.

Gates/to cockpit sharing also allows up to 6 passengers to tag along in one aircraft so you can easily tag along as a passenger if you so desire. If you use cockpit sharing then you must use the default 737 and 747 respectively.

This flight will start in daylight hours and end in night time.
Manchester-Heathrow (Daylight)
Heathrow-Geneva (Night time)
That is the reason for the slightly earlier start to the event. Cockpit sharers also have the opportunity to switch roles once on the ground at Heathrow. This means that if you do plan to share the cockpit then agree who is going to do the 737 daylight flight and the 747 Night time flight before departure from Manchester.

Event servers
Fshost server : 82.152.80.185
Team Speak : 68.47.109.128
The servers will be password protected. You will receive the password in the final confirmation email once you have registered for the event.
The FSHost server will be online all day on 8th May to allow connections to be tested. Please ensure that you have no connectivity issues before the event begins. This helps us all to get away on time if we are not troubleshooting connection issues once the event has begun.

This is a sanctioned event and will require registration. To register for this event, simply send an email to mp-registrations@flightsim.com. On confirmation you will receive an event pack containing FSNav flight plans and any relevant documentation.

This event is open to anyone and would be a particularly great one for any newcomers due to the lack of complexity. Please feel free to come and join us, you will be made most welcome.

I guess I'll have to sit this one out, nowhere near experience required in flying. Also, I'm busy studying I guess... banned from PC really. :D

What do you mean "nowhere near experience required..."? Cockpit sharing technology is relatively new technology to all multiplayer pilots and still in the beta stage. You should get FSNet and install it and we can put you in one of our cockpits as pilot non-flying or even passenger, where all you have to do is sit back, watch and listen. Or I could put you as pilot flying and me as "first officer" and I'll work all the instruments for you. Or you could just get some training on the flight, just by watching everything that's happening in the cockpit, asking questions, etc.

The invite is always open...don't be bashful, ask questions or ask someone to teach you how it's done. I asked one pilot the time and he told me how the clock was built...lol. Seriously, with all the pilots I've met here, it has been a wealth of info. This is how I learned the basics of multiplayer flying.
