Had some real fun with the Tanker today. would like to share tips and experiences with other like minded pilots :0

I use the w key to hide panel and have full view of target. The virtual cockpit is great for initail aproximation also. Once I am within 1k feet I cheat the AP reseting the barometric pressure so that it shows higher and plane drops ten feet for drag fuel probe to line up. Air brake does not deploy when flaps are in use but if you keep the key pressed it does slows you down.

BTW how does FSnav show where Target is? I used coordinates in web page to find tanker

Hi Rafael,

Glad you have registered for the event and plan to join us.

Thanks for sharing those docking tips. Another way to force the aircraft down and up some is to press and hold the keypad 7 and keypad 1 keys with the AP set at FL150. Takes a few seconds to get the effect, but they will move the aircraft enough to get it in the position you want. When you release the key, the AP will move the plane back to the set altitude.

I am flying the tanker, so my call LJ922 is the one to look for on the FSNav map screen. I'll add the word "tanker" to my call to eliminate any confusion.

Glad you enjoyed the flight. See you in the air.

Ed

Is it feasable to create a low polygon (AI specs) version of the Daisuke F/A 18 which will be used during the multiplayer event so as not to cause a drag on frame rates?

Me thinks MSFS uses the same texture as the original in the aircraft folder. This technically should be a frame killer.

But if we made another AC (same F18 with another name in the Aircraft cfg file) with lower polygons (easy to do) can the Multiplayer software be programed to tell my FS9 to use the low polygon model instead of a copy of the original DY F18?
