******

Our third sanctioned multiplayer event will be held in Nassau, Bahamas. On August 8 we will meet at Nassau International Airport (MYNN) at 2100 GMT. We will transfer from the airport to the cruise ship terminal by helicopter or other STOL aircraft and then each of us will pilot a Scarab racing boat through Nassau Harbor, around Paradise Island, past a cruise ship at anchor near Nassau, and then back to the cruise ship terminal. At the conclusion of the race, we will return to Nassau International and fly on to Bimini for a few days of rest and relaxation.

This event is limited to twenty players on the day of the event. The FSHost server will be set for that maximum and additional players beyond that limit will not be able to join the session. To participate, you must register for the event as described later in this announcement.

PREPARING FOR THE EVENT

The event uses the default FS2004 scenery. You will need to download and install the Scarab racing boat from the FlightSim.com library. It is called “spdboat.zip” by Jordan Moore and Zane Greenwald. Install it into your FS2004 Aircraft folder according to the instructions. Note that you must have the file CONCORDE.GAU in your FS9 Gauges folder for the panel of the boat to work correctly. If you do not have the CONCORDE.GAU file, you can download it from the following site.

http://www.airga-va.com/Alex%20Page_newpanels.htm

At the time of registration you will receive a situation file set as an attachment to your confirmation. These two files are called “Nassau Race Start”; one is a FLT file and the other is a WX file. Place both in your My Documents\Flight Simulator Files folder. Call up the Nassau Race Start from your Flights\Select a Flight dropdown menu in FS2004. This will put you in the speedboat in the correct starting position. Note that the situation uses “roll in spot view”.

Also you will receive an FSNavigator file called Nassau Boat Race Course.fsn. Place this file in your Flight Simulator 9\Modules\FSNavigator\Plan folder. Open this flight plan in FSNav to see the race course circuit.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

There are two components to the event: a flight rally and a boat race. Each of these is described below.

The Flight Rally

The first component of the day’s event is the flight rally. Fly to Nassau International Airport in a plane of your choosing from your home airport, or other airport, if you like, and plan your arrival for 2100 GMT. You may arrive as early as you like, but you must be at the airport and on the ground by 2100.

Designing your flight plan and timing it for on-time arrival is a challenging aspect of flight simulation. Having planes landing in Nassau will make the event more interesting and fun for all. Plan to use Runway 14 for landing. This is an 11,032 foot runway equipped with ILS at an altitude of 16 feet. Announce your landing intentions on TeamSpeak or by use of the FS chat window. There will be no ATC in operation on the day of the flight.

Transfer from the airport by helicopter, blimp, or ultralight. The race will begin at the cruise ship terminal in downtown Nassau.
Regardless of how you arrive at Nassau International, be sure crash detection is turned off before joining the session. (Select Aircraft/Realism Settings and then tic “Ignore Crashes and Damage”.)

The Boat Race

When you reach the cruise ship terminal, select the flight file called Nassau Race Start and immediately move away from this entrance portal so that others may join their boats as well. Spread out some in the inlet until all are ready. The race will begin at 2130 GMT with a simultaneous start. Move out slowly onto the race course and then accelerate as you clear the other boats. The course will take you through Nassau Harbor and around Paradise Island. Please note that you must go around the anchored cruise ship and pass over Fix 11 before making your final turn to complete the circuit. The first pilot to reenter the small inlet at the cruise ship terminal and stop his boat wins the race.

The sail boaters in Nassau Harbor are not very happy about this race. Please try not to pass too close to them or hit one of them. After you pass through the bridge, you will see a group of sail boats near Paradise Island. Please pass to the right of the power boat that is securing that area.

The race circuit will take less than ten minutes to complete and after a few pics, we will return to Nassau International Airport. The flight to Bimini will begin as soon as all are safely in the airport complex and ready to go.

PROBLEMS AND QUESTIONS

If you have problems installing any of the components for this adventure or you have questions, simply post a message on the Multiplayer Adventures forum and one of the moderators will respond promptly. You may also send a private forum message to Geoff or Ed or email them at either Capn_sonic@flightsim.com or LJ922@flightsim.com.

EVENT SERVERS

The flight server IP for this event will be 82.152.80.185. The TeamSpeak server will be 68.47.121.47:8767. Backup servers will be in place should they be needed. The servers will be online the day before the event from 2100 – 2300 GMT to provide an opportunity to test your connections prior to joining the event. Forum moderators will be online at that time to provide assistance, if needed.

The FSHost flight server and the Teamspeak server will be in operation all day on the day of the event. If you have a problem joining either server, come to the other one and announce the problem. Check in on the Flightsim.com Multiplayer Adventures forum for information on alternate server operations.

EVENT REGISTRATION

An advance registration is required to participate in this event and participation is limited to twenty pilots. To register for this event, simply send an email to Geoff at Capn_Sonic@flightsim.com. Your registration will be immediately confirmed and reconfirmed a day or two before the event. The session password will be sent to you as part of the final confirmation packet. Be sure to check the Multiplayer Adventures forum for any last minute information or changes prior to the event.

We look forward to seeing you in Nassau on August 8.

For some help in installing the boat, see the "ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE BOAT" post later in this thread.

Hi All,

The "spdboat.zip" cigarette boat is a great addition to your FS9 Aircraft folder. Not only can you use it in this race, but you will find many other uses for it. Many thanks to Jordan Moore and Zane Greenwald of the Virtual US Coast Guard for making it available to the flightsim community.

When you open the zip file, you will have the following:

Cigarette Folder
spdboat Folder
FILE_ID.DIZ Text Document
gauges Zip File
Install Docs Text Document
spdboat.gif Picture File

Put BOTH folders (Cigarette and spdboat) into your FS9 Aircraft folder.

Open the gauges zip file and you will have the following:

cutter_gauges

Copy the individual files in the cutter_gauges folder into your FS9 Gauges folder.

When you finish, your panel should look like this:

http://www.flightsim.com/dcforum/User_files/4100e65c2875dc4d.jpg

If you do not get this result, please reply to this thread or send a private message or email to one of the moderators and we will be glad to assist you.

Thanks to Geoff for his help in this install.

See you in Nassau on August 8.

Best regards,

Ed

Hi All,

Get to Nassau soon and start your practice laps. Folks are already there and the competition is heating up. Four of us just ran the circuit together today and had a great time. Here are some pics:

I would love to do this, but for those of us who are not savy on the GMT thing, could you please convert it to the standard east coast time for me? Thanks!

Glad to help. 2100 GMT is 5:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time.

Take a look at the post, "How to co-ordinate timings around the globe" on this forum for a neat world clock. I have a desktop icon set up on my computer to link to it, so it's always at hand.

Hope you can join us. Be sure to reserve a spot by sending an email to Geoff at capn_sonic@flightsim.com.

Best regards,

Ed-

Thanks! I appreciate that. Now, one more question, which I'm sure is kind of a lame one, but just wanted to ask to be on the safe side. Should that mean that we should all ready be at Nassau for 5pm? I take it that is the right time of the race, correct? Thanks!

Yes, you should be in Nassau at the airport at 5:00 pm. We will transfer to the cruise ship dock and begin the race at 5:30. After the race is completed, we will transfer back to the airport and leave for Bimini. Looking forward to seeing you.

Again, be sure to send Geoff an email to register. The server will have a password for the event and you must be registered to receive it. Geoff will send it to you by email the day before the event.

Best,

Ed

Yeah I would absolutely love to be one of the first ones parked at Nassau, sit there, pan around and watch the other players aircraft flying in. That airport out there at Nassau could get busy with just 10 or more planes coming in all around the same time :) You bet I will be watching this forum for when the next event comes up. As for now...later on tonight i'm taking a solo from KMIA (Miami Int) to the Caymen Islands in a 'Dassault Falcon 2000' (one of Mike Stone's fine aircraft) for some flight photos.

Austin or Ed,

Just another question - with the IP address, is that the IP address I enter into the computer for the Multiplayer screen in FS? Also, I know there are some tropical depressions brewing in the area. I was wondering, do we check real world weather, or use the them Fair Weather? I thought that might spark an interesting subject here. I figured even though the Citation X I'll be flying in will be able to handle it, I just want to be on the same page as everyon else.

Sorry John,

I must have missed this post yesterday. Anyway yes that ip is what you will enter in the multiplayer FS screen, then click search and
after you pick-up the server, then just click join.If you haven't
done so already you need to pick up download at www.teamspeak.org
download the TS Client 2 file.I beleive its ts2_client_rc2_2032.
Just load that up (if you don't have it)and we'll get you going
Sunday . Just show up a little early servers are usually up way before
the events actually start so you can check out your connections.
Next we haven't been using any weather for the previous events.
That's gonna be up to Ed and he'll let us know. I suppose you could use whatever you wanted for the fly in. Also make sure to go into
settings-realism/aircraft and click on ignore crashes. Think that's
about it till then. You'll probably see a few other Citation X's.

See ya sometime this weekend

Hey John,
Sorry for the delay in answering your Registration request for this event. I just found out why I didn't get your original email. It found it's way into my Junk mail folder. I do not check that folder too often. Guess I need to check it daily from now on.

Again, Apologies for the delay.
Great having you along.

Oh yeah,

Forgot to tell you about FSNav. If you don't have it you'll
need to get from the library here at FlightSim. Just put
fsnav460.zip in the search box and load it up so you can
see the map for the race.

See ya soon
