Wondering if flightsim.com is planning on entering a team in this event? Wanted to know before I registered freelance.

mmmmm.
Gimme a day or two Mark, I will have a word with Ed and see if it's something we can do as a team. Just thinking out loud, I guess that, as it's not an online event then maybe we wont, but as I said, I will discuss with Ed.
Very nice of you to ask before you decided to register. Really appreciate that Mark.
Will get back on this asap.

Hi all,
This is an interesting question as to what the purpose of the forum is:
Nels gives some guidance when he say,
>> "main focus will be to use our FS aircraft to go places and do things together. The key word here is Events"
Its difficult knowing how to set the rules for the forum, however might this suggested definition of multiplayer fit - "any event or flight, online or not which entails the participation of multiple players?"
This would be a loose interpretation however would perhaps enable all "event" related topics to be discussed and participated in, along with of course the sanctioned online events.
Alternatively, perhaps another FS member could set up a team. I'm sure that Nels would support any effort which furthers the cause of flightsimming and of the site.

Mark,
Go ahead and register. I think that maybe we (as a team) will give it a miss.
There is no reason why you cannot create your own team of course.
For the benefit of all.
This forum has no hard and fast ground rules. It is in place to provide transport for likeminded folk who love to fly together. We (Ed and Myself) Organise the sanctioned events and the occasional impromptu session. There is nothing to stop anyone using this forum as a place to arrange their own sessions, hey, even use our server to run them. That is exactly what it is all about. Because we (Ed and myself) decide not to go ahead with something doesn't mean that it can't go ahead. It simply means that we will not be organising it. There is nothing to stop anyone from setting up a team right here, right now, and running the BOTA thingy. This place is here for exactly that. Our sanctioned events are merely a small percentage of what this forum can achieve. Maybe we should set up some ground rules so that people are aware of what it's all about. .....not. The forum could be compared to a small bar where people, with similar interests, come to meet and chat. Also, I must emphasise, there are still lots of people out there that have no MP skills or experience whatsoever and they may find this place just the ticket to get started. ( Some have already benefited from this forum in this way)
I don't want to find myself taking hours to reply to any comments simply so that I don't inadvertently make a comment that maybe mis-understood. I say it as I see it and I will not tolerate any comments being disected to seem to mean something that they don't. The problem with text as opposed to face to face is the fact that there are no facial expressions or otherwise to compliment comments and how one person percieves a comment may well be totally different to how another interperates it.
In short, We don't want to start making any additional rules, outside the normal rules, for the forum. You guys know how it all works. If you wanna use it to your benefit then go ahead, it's what it is here for.
Most of all.........enjoy yourselves.
No offence meant TW, you made a valid point.
End of............

Hey Mark
Just got wind of all this today, and scanned breifly over the
BOTA site.
Sounds pretty cool, and there's still some time before the event
if you want to see how many would like to go as a team.
I'll sure jump right in there with you(barring any time restrictions,
need to read some more about it) and any of the rest of us that's
willin',,,,,,I'm sure some others will too.
Let's do it
Best
Austin
